Quick Waxing Question

1- A week or so after you wax your car it will be dirty so you have to wash it. WHen you wash it doesn't all the wax come off. Why on the bottles do they say "this product will last 3-5 months"???
2- What are the best towels (when you wax by hand) to apply the wax?
3- What are the best towels to remove the "haze" that you wipe off?

The wax should not come off if you are using a proper car wash detergent that says "won't strip wax". Try not to use dishwashing liquid as they are usually very good at stripping wax!
Whilst very little might come off with a wash, it's not all coming off that's for sure! And while most claim that wax will last 3-5 months, I don't really believe it. So for that reason, at least once a month I re-apply a thin coat of wax.
So..for applying wax. I strongly suggest that you use a foam applicator pad and follow the directions on the bottle. Sponges are best in my opinion, as they do not absorb the wax like a towel would, and you get better coverage with a sponge and use less product as well! These sponges can be found in most automotive stores that see car cleaning supplies! Some sponges have a terry towel like material on one side, but I suggest just trying a two sided sponge.
To remove the wax haze. I suggest a really soft 100% Terry Towel or a very plush and soft microfiber towel(s). Again these can be found in the same places as the sponges.
Hint....take a blank CD and turn it to the recordable side. Rub the towel on the CD..if it scratches the CD..it's going to scratch your paint. Take a CD to the store when you shop for towels. It will save you a trip to return them!
Hint...whenever possible..use linear motion only to apply and remove wax. Never circular...this is what contributes most to cobwebs and swilrs on paint. Linear motion will rudeuce this greatly and makes them harder to see, if you do indeed marr the paint!
