Ok here we go.

I was driving my gst to work from school today. As i was pulling in to the lot i realized that my oil light had came on. So i parked and when inside the building. After work, about 3 hours later i come to my car and see there is a puddle of oil underneath it. WTF???? I go in the car and try to turn it on, but oil just splatters everywhere. So I decide to add more oil because there was really almost nothing left. I did and while i was at the same lot, the oil started leaking again, and at a fast rate. At this point i didnt touch the car. Im gonna tow the car prob to my mechanic.

Anyways, this sucks and i am very upset that this happened. Hopefully it is nothing major, but something tells me that it is. I read up on a couple of previous threads, but every situation is diff. If there is anything you guys can help me out with from this info, I would appreciate it.

This is just my luck! :banghead:

i had something similar happen to me in another car. about a week after i changed my oil and filter the oil light came on and i stopped the car, opened the hood and it sprayed everywhere. turns out the parts store gave me the wrong oil filter and the gasket on the filter breached, therefore letting all the oil spray everywhere...so i guess you could check your oil filter

Oil filter could have backed off of the housing, drain plug could have wiggled off somehow, major seal could have blown. When was the last time the oil was changed? There are a ton of different ways for our DSMs to pour out oil...

I'm afraid we'll have to wait for someone to tell more directly where the leak is coming from to give you more worthwhile answers :(

Sorry to hear about this, but make sure not to run the car with low/no oil or you'll be paying for a new bottom end...

Ya, i changed my oil 2 weeks ago, the thing is when i stopped the car and jacked it up with the mini jack the car comes with, i noticed the oil filter was a bit loose, i tightened it and poured in more oil and started again, i was disapointed to findout that oil was still spraying everywhere but it didn't seem to be coming from the filter, i guess its prob a combination of things, Im not sure if i can consider it a relief that the only part of the car that was leaking was by and above the oil filter, no leak near or on the block, in or near sparkplugs and wires, and no sign of oil from the timing belt to the left of the car. some oil got on the belt casing but none in ,,,,, i hope... but ya any insite, experiences are appreciatied,, im thinkin to change the oil filter hoping that it was only the filter seal ring that i tigthend to much .... not sure though....

well when my filter did that I tightened it back down and it still sprayed everywhere because the seal was broken. the filter was useless. make sure they give you the right one (if thats the problem)

When I got my car the oil filter kept coming loose. One day it almost completly fell off and dumped very close to all my oil out. The problem was that the threaded piece the filter screws on to is a hollow stud. The stud has to be tightened up before the filter or else it would just keep coming loose.
Where is it leaking from. If you don't know exactly the general area in the engine bay helps too.

After taking a look at the car yesterday, i came to a conclusion that it was leaking from the oil filter. When i changed my filter, not to long ago, i seem to have not tightened it enough. So the oil filter from the beggining was kinda loose. After a while it just kept loosening up, and that day when i was driving to work, i did go into a small bump which prob had led to the filter coming almost completely off. Thankfully it was nothing serious and the car is still working. I guess i learned my lesson about oil filters. :grinno:

Thanks guys for the help!
