2001 Gti 1.8t

What is the difference between the 2001 and the 2002?? i know VW upped the horsepower to 180 but is there a difference between the cars? or did they do it by the ECU? also can i chip a 2001 and still get the same power numbers as a 2002?

kinda new to the gti, but i do know that chipping a 2001 and 2002 will give each year different amount of horses.

you will probably get the same amount of power after chipping an AWW motor

2001 = AWW engine code, 150hp and 150s tq
late 2001-2002 and above = AWP engine code, 180hp and 174 tq

the difference is that the AWP engine has a k03sport turbo charger instead of a k03
