maxima vs altima

I do have to agree with many people that the new altima 3.5 se is a great car. I still question why nissan would threaten the success of it's legendary maxima by introducing an altima that is bigger, and almost as powerful.
If I were to choose from the two, I'd pick the maxima, partly because i've been a fan of this car since the 80's. It has a few more hp, a higher quality interior, as well as a more classy looking interior (altima looks like a spaceship). Just compare the leather quality of both, and you'll know. In addition, its proportions look much more graceful than the blown up altima.
suggestion to nissan. do not drop the maxima, but rather move it upmarket to compete with the acura tl, mazda millenia, audi a4, bmw 3 series, etc. Scratch the I35, because the upcoming g35 will further congest the already fierce inner corporate battle.
