hey guys
just wondering how hard it would be to change the second gear synchro on my 95 gs.... we have a pretty good amount of tools and im sure we could do it in my garage.... but i was wondering how hard it would be and how much synchros are, and where i can get one for the least price, i didnt find any on ebay....
if this isn't the right subforum im sorry, but i dont know which to actually put it in.

you basically have to take the entire transmission apart to get at them. I recommend reading a technical book on transmissions before trying to do anything inside one.

Also it will be pretty hard if your just going to have it up on jack stands.
Now if you were Jake you wouldnt hate your life and you could pull the tranny in 2 in a half hours using your shop with a hydrolic lift.

well its still possible with jackstands, though right? i mean it wouldnt be a simple quick job, probably take a few days - but its doable.... and what about specialty tools?

well i rebuild my whole tranny on my tsi awd, like 8-10 month ago, at that moment i did it with 2 jackstands but it was not easy, it took me a lot if time, once i have it outside the car and opened i realize that was better idea to take it to a specialis cause i didn't know where to find the parts i need (1 of the forks and all the syncross), once they rebuild it i put it in the car again, and it works great, but is possible to do it on your onw with out spending 1000 bucks like i did :(. At that moment i didn't have the knolege i do have now.

I did an auto to manual swap in my garage in about a month the trans was out in a bout 3 hours and its not that hard and no special tools required at all to do it but inside the trans you may need a couple not that hard jus read about it
