first time use... great board
Anyway, I have a 2001 Taurus and the engine light came on, took it to auto zone and it came up EGR air flow. What does that mean? Is it serious/expensive. Has anyone else had the same problem? The car only has 22,000 miles on it. Thanks guys and gals!!!

With only 22000 miles, you should be able to get dealer warranty coverage on the emissions until 50000 miles

Hmmm...sounds like what I just posted. I did check AutoZone for pricing of the EGR valve sensor. They wanted $80 for it. My car ran perfect except for that light bothering me. Ford did have some major issues with that sensor, so for $33.00 at Ford, I would give that a valid try. Right now the auto parts store don't have the new style, so for this time, I would recommend using a genuine Ford part.

Was it code PO401?
If it was it is the DPFE sensor. The parts stores call it an egr pressure sensor.
It is covered under warranty by Ford. I think they even extended it to 100K

If Ford won't cover it by warranty, you can get the new sensor at Ford for about $33. However, if it only has 22,000 miles on it, for sure it's covered under the original warranty. I heard that they only extended the warranty to 60,000 miles. Mine failed at 59,900, and I was 400 miles from home. So, I paid my $33 for the sensor, and all is well now.
