84 F-250 6.9l diesel problems continue

2 weeks ago and about 200 miles I replaced the head gasket and waterpump on my truck. Last night while checking the oil, I noticed some white sludge like material on the end of dipstick and also inside the oil fill neck. Exhaust like smoke comes out of the dipstick tube when engine is running. Light blue exhaust from the tailpipe, the engine does not run hot or overheat. Pulled the radiator cap off and after twenty minutes of running, did not see much water flow across the radiator. Pulled the thermostat, checked it out in the boiling water on the stove and it functions ok. Ran the engine with out the thermostat and no noticeable change in the water flow. Should there be sufficient water thru the top hose to feel it if you pinch down the hose?
Any ideas, hate to think think that my engine is just worn out and ready for replacement.

Some smoke will be emitted from the dipstick tube or oil fill with the engine running bacause the CDR valves are not very effective at idle, and only vent "excess" gasses to begin with. Basically, the gasses will take the path of least resistance, and with the dipstick open, that's MUCH easier than going thru the CDR valve.

If it runs OK, don't worry.

The moisture could be residual from the headgasket replacement, or condensation.

Please, if you value you truck use ONLY FORD thermostats. Trust me, ALL the other brand will eventually cause you toruble.

my friend, you may have a problem called cavitation. Pin holes in the cylinder walls. Do some digging on this subject, or e-mail me an I will help you out
