Well, this is not my first system install, but it is my first install being a Bostwick dealer!! I'm not through with it yet, but I'm proud of it. My main purpose was for it to look good and sound frickin awsome! (ya know, demo) I would like to see some pics of some more system setups. I know I started this thread a little early b/c I don't even have pics yet, but I'm taking some at lunch.

I got...err had, 2 12's in the bed of my truck (until i blew em). The cab's cut...amp rack in the back, etc..

So now i'm lookin for another pair of twelves...think you could hook me up with a pair? I got a MMATS 500.2 Class D amp to run em off of. Not having bass is driving me crazy.

Oh yeah, I'm sure I could hook you up. What kind are you looking for? Right now, I'm just starting out, so Bostwick, Sony, and uh..a few other kinds are all I have access to at dealer prices, but I'm adding more brands each day. I can usually sell them for cheaper than Crutchfield, bt the only thing that might concern me is the shipping costs to you..I'll check on it this afternoon. I got the Bostwick HDX series dual 4ohm voice coil 12's, got 'em bridged down to 1 ohm on a DA500.1 Bostwick class D amp...oh yeah, and a 1 farad cap which is awsome..I gotta go take pics here in a few minutes..

Just lookin for a decent pair, nothing earthshattering. My MMATS is a 500 watt 2 ohm stable class D, not sure about the rest of the specs. Perhaps you could match me up a pair that'll do well with my amp?

I had a pair of Kove Armageddon 12" M series, but this little powerhouse of an amp fried them after about 3 months :bloated:

I'll be looking for ya man, I think I have a good pair in mind.

Ok, Here's some pics of it all, they were taken with a palm pilot, so they aren't as good as I had hoped. But still, I built the boxes and all...

Looks sweet. I've been wanting to get me an enclosure designed somethin like that with the amp rack in the center.

Lol, yeah, I had to remove the jack cover out, which is still crusing around in the bed of the truck :evillol: . But thanks on the compliments, I designed the whole thing to look as good as possible, in order to hopefully attract some new customers, but it still pounds!! Nobody much knows about the Bostwick brand, guess becuz they're built in Georgia. :screwy:

Oh yeah, and Brandon, me and my partner built this enclosure from scratch, carpet and all. We did look at a ProBox to get the design idea from it, but as far as the actual cutting/building stuff, we did it. It saved like 75% over buying a box.

I wanna see some pics of some head units..... I know they are usually smaller that our factory ones. I wanna see how they fit and how they look.

Ok, if you can give me a little bit I'll take a pic of mine. Its a little older, and I'm about to replace it, but damn it looks cool. It changes like 14000 different colors.

Ignore the litte gap at the top left of the unit, the guy that was helping me put my stuff in didnt line it all up. It's not usually like that, and it's driving my crazy

ok. it looks a little funny seeing a little radio their. but i guess its gotta be done. Unless you buy a one of thoes laege faced ones i guess.
Im not too much into car audio as far as companys and all the technical stuff. I guess i just want to see what is out their before i go puttin in some pice of crap.

Is it possible to keep the factory SCV (speed controlled volume i think) with an aftermarket radio??? I really like havin that.

I think that some of the higher up stereo's have that built in. It's just a function of the stereo. I know that some Alpine units had it for awhile but, these days I don't know.

JVC's used to have them, but I haven't checked on it in awhile. I'll do that for ya though. I'd like to regain it myself.

Reciever looks good too. Do you know where I might find some more enclosures like yours and the ones ProBox offers. I've seen something similar from SoundOff Audio on ebay... but has anyone come across anything else? I have a feeling ProBox is way out of my price range and I dont have the carpentry skills or tools to make one.

jeverett
10-14-2004, 07:29 AM
LoL, that reciever was sold 2 hours after I posted that pic. I got a new Sony 8800 series, and man it's sweeeet. The Proboxes aren't high at all, I can get them and sell them for $100, +- a few dollars. I'm not very carpentry oriented either, so I just looked at the probox, and tried to mock what they had, I had someone else cut the pieces out for me.

You can get a Double DIN head Unit that will take up the space of the factory unit and give it a cleaner "Factory" look. Most after market head units are single DIN and need a fit kit with spacers above or below. I believe they make an adapter for a hundred or so dollars that will allow you to keep the steering wheels controls.

The only problem with the double DIN units is your selection is drasticly reduced. Only a few manufactures make them.

I called my supplier yesterday, and asked him about keeping the steering wheel controls on a Duramax I just installed a system in. He looked for a few hours and finally told me that they don't make such a thing. The duramax guy wanted to keep his factory 6-disc changer radio b/c of the steering wheel controls, but I don't like patching into BOSE systems.. try www.pac-audio.com (http://www.pac-audio.com) and see what they might have.

What can you do to the seats in a single cab truck to keep them from rattling. I thought the air space was off on my box and my speaker was fluttering, but come to find out it was the speaker making the back side of the seat move around. It feels like there is something hard on the back of the seat under the carpet that is loose. Is there a way to take the seats apart so i can put some dynomat in there or something. By the way i have 2 pheonix gold x-max 10's that i'm planning on installing in my truck at some point later on when i get more time to build an enclosure for them. Someone let me know how to post pics on this site so i can get some up whenever i get time.

Does anybody know if I could stuff 2 12's under the backseat of an ext. cab, or is that too much? Should I go for 10's instead? Everything is stock right now.

Got 2 12's under my backseat. They're firiing downward. I've seen them facing up as well. But never heard that setup. I like the sound mine makes. Not quite as loud outside, but sit inside and put on the THX sound effects and you think you're in a movie theater. But I'd recommend upgrading all factory speakers at the same time as the subs. You'll thank me later. :)

What is everyones input on bass tubes? worth it, or waste of money.

jeverett
10-18-2004, 08:46 AM
Some bass tubes sound good some sound like crap. I've heard 2 Bazooka tubes in a Blazer and they pounded! Also heard some in a reg. cab truck and sounded like crap. I guess its just how big the inside of your vehicle is. And for what he said about replacing the factory speakers at the same time, he is 150% correct. I blew my door speakers friday4 night...now they sound like they're farting.

I hate bass tubes. It's a cheap way for people to have bass. Basically bass on a budget. Spend the money and have a good setup. You'll be a lot happier with "true" subs and not some hokey fake sub like bass tubes.

ok...good and bad on the bass tube...Im just trying to save some space. Has anyone else seen the center consoul with a sub in it? I forget who the manufactures was, but i saw it at Tweeter Audio and Video.

jeverett

that would most likely be JL Audio. They sound awsome, the ones I've heard do anyhow, someone else might have heard a bad one.

I ran a Rockford Fosgate Octagon tube with 8" punch sub several years back. It sounded excellent. I agree with what people are saying. There are many different quality levels and they sound different with diffenrent types of Amps as well as Car/Truck bodies. I was powering my tub with a Punch45 AMP.

Does anyone know where I can purchase a box for a 10" sub that will fit behind the passenger seat or in the middle behind the console without taking up any of the seating room in a 2000 single cab? I just got a new Panasonic deck and Polk Audio speakers all around and am wanting to put a sub in, but cant find a box that will fit with the seat all the way back on bottom and the back all the way back from there. I dont know what the dimensions are off the top of my head but if anyone knows of anywhere let me know.

Thanks

I can get you one that fits 2 10's behind the rear seat. try www.proboxrocks.com (http://www.proboxrocks.com) and look for it. Your local audio installer should have some way of ordering it for you.

new here, i just bought my silverado last week. i have run all my amp wires and i am building a box for my jl 12 right now. anyone have any measurements for a box for a single cab? and what exactly does mounting an amp rack entail? ive never had a truck before (former import tuner) so this is all new to me. ive never had to squeeze in a system. i did install my clarion dxz735 with no problems (after fudging some factory wiring to make the harness work) and everything is run, i just need logistical help on where, how to mount the sub/amp.

jeverett
10-28-2004, 11:09 AM
My first setup was 2 Kenwood 10's in little crappy boxes I made and the amp was mounted under the passenger seat. IT worked excellent for that application. Now, as you might have seen from the pics at the first of this thread, I have drastically improved the looks. What year is your truck, and where did you want to put the sub at? behind the driver/pass seat, or inthe middle, or...it's all up to you. THe amp though would probably be best mounted under the seat unless you've built an amp rack.

well, it's a 2004 regular cab. im wanting something that will fit behind the seat without sacrificing my comfort. i looked at some of those pro boxes, but they seem a little expensive. but not bad really, they look like a perfect fit. i just don't know if it's really possible to fit a 12" in there.
