Looks good. It does kinda suck, because the car has already been modified, so most of the stuff thats gonna be done know are not basic things. It would be cool if they got a stock gst or gsx, then started from the beginning, have write-ups for everything they installed. Anyways the site looks very good and hopefully will prove to be helpfull.

PS.. Nice car Jacob!

The car is my GS-T, yeah in retrospect it would have been nice to do writeups for all of the stuff I have done in the past. If nothing else just have documented for myself. But hey, what can you do.

I will say this guys, check the project car site here later tonight to get the story on Vlad and I's trip to Baltimore over the weekend. I just picked up a 95 TSI AWD shell. Can you guess whats coming?

The first ever documented VFAQ on a 2G FWD to AWD conversion. I'm going to be getting started here in the next couple weeks. Taking my time and doing a thorough write up as I go.

Also, just as an insight into what I have planned for the winter. Aside from typical upgrades - wheels/tires, big brakes, custom set of coilovers. I am building the motor stroker style to spool my 50 Trim at 3500 rpm and wind it out to 8500. I've already got the ported head I am building and will be documenting that as I work on it. Also, and I think this is the coolest, I am going to be doing a lot of weight reduction. A LOT. Pulling stuff from the engine bay, skinning the doors, fiberglass hatch, etc. I'm looking to get the car down to about 2400-2500 lbs or less.

It should be interesting

Oh yeah, one other thing. While it would have been nice to do VFAQ's on the more common upgrades, those type of references can be found everywhere. I think it should be really neat to have a documented transformation of your standard fast DSM into something vary rare indeed.

We'll see how it goes.

BlackShadow,

No kidding huh  ?

This will be great, it will be nice to have someone to offer assistence if I get in a jam.

I imagine we'll be in touch, I'll already checked out your pictures, they look great. If you don't mind when I do the write up on my conversion, could I use you as a supplementary source, or better yet, you could help me compile the VFAQ for the swap.

Any way, good luck finishing yours.

might as well put a cage in it right from the start lol i think anything lower then 14 in a convertible needs a full cage

its a 97 gst spyder... white, i might paint it a different color but i am not sure yet, it has a black top and gray leather and interior. its a nice car but it will be better soon! i just finished putting the 10 pt roll cage in yesterday. it was a little over excessive but oh well, there is no way go get in the back seat without putting the top down! this car probably wont be driven a lot, not a big fan of having the top up so i will most likely only drive it on sunny days and at the track.

sorry to hi-jack the thread aves... why didnt you just put the motor in the Talon? wouldnt that be easier than swapping the drivetrain... or is there something wrong with the talon?

aves911

The Talon was a 95 with some body damage, so I would've had to do the 97-99 body conversion, plus reinstall the FMIC, rewire the fuel pump, put the interior back together, etc.

All in all, while it might have been a little less time consuming to just put the motor in the Talon, I would have been looking at body work to pay for :disappoin on top of the labor time.

Plus this way I get to dissassemble the whole suspension, grease everything make sure the bushings are in good shape, replace any really rustly bolts, clean up the rear diff an control arms, and put everything back together in like new condition. Important stuff on a road race car.
