You sort of have to move the PCM...but not really. What I mean by this is that the PCM's original location is inside the factory air box. So, obviously when you remove the air box, the PCM will no longer be located inside it.

When you take the air box out, there will be a flat surface that's just the right size for the PCM. Some people use cable ties to hold it in place right there. The electrical connectors are gasketed so you don't really have to worry about moisture.

If you want to get fancy, or just don't feel comfortable with the cable ties, you can buy a factory GMC Jimmy PCM mounting tray. They're only like $10 from the dealer and require only minor modification to work perfectly. GM part #15995679.

I have a FWI and my PCM is held with cable ties and it works great. I have heard some guys having a hard time with the PCM tray trying to find how to mount it. Use Cable ties and you will be fine.

You can PM me if you have question.

Thrasher's cold air box has a metal plate and it fits under it. Never said what box you are buying.
Hope I don't get in trouble for this, but here goes..

Oh I'm sorry, (you never heard that before). I read the title to this one and got into cold air boxes.
But didn't he say IF he buys a cold air box where does he put his PCM? I took the one out of my GTP, and my wife says if I don't get off the kitchen table, she had some thoughts where I could put mine. She's little, but bad!!!
Got email, and waiting for reply.

Just my .02, PVC piping lets off poisonous gas when burned or over-heated...it is the really cheap way to go, but it can also be very dangerous, especially in your engine bay where it tends to get pretty hot. Use a different material for the piping.

This guy has some good instructions with pics. http://www.johnvegas.com/Fwi.htm

I have a Thrasher CAI so my PCM is protected by an aluminum box.
