Never heard of it before..... Sorry, it could be a joke, or just something that someone came up with to designate their own personal toy. I'll google it and see what I come up with.

I know the 924 Carrera GTR raced at Le Mans, so I suppose it's reasonable that one exists. I ran into the same problems though. A couple of pictures and nothing else..... It owuld be interesting to figure out what exactly it was....

924 carrera gtr its got to be, they also did a 924GTP Le Mans, it finished an east 7th overall in the 1981 24-hours, It ran a new 2.5ltr inline four with four valves per cylinder and a high boost turbo that delivered a smashing 410 bhp DIN.

Your 944 GTR: (Go down half the page and you'll see a 944 that sold for $140,000) http://www.race-cars.com/carsold/porsches.htm
An awsome car, It was at Rennsport Reunion II IIRC.

Does your car have manual steering?

Got some good leads guys,
Heres what I got so far
FabCar did all the body work and a company called Jerry Woods Enterprises might have done the engine.
Man if I actully build this thing I dont even want to think of what it will do to some of these cars on the road (hondas, nissans .....)
I'll keep yall posted on what I find out

Steve, Its the 924 GTP Le Mans, 924 with stick on rear arches (fenders), i have the same pics of the same car and from the rear, NO 944s had stick on fenders (arches) they was all part off the bodywork and moulded into the rear. and came from the 924 carrera GT, which in turn was inspired by such cars as the 924 CARRERA GT Le Mans and 924 GTP Le Mans. I have it in my new Official history book and it clearly states 924 GTP Le Mans. with the same pics as whats in your link. It could be a miss print, but in two books?

It could be a miss type from the site I quoted too, but I did a little searching and came across this:
http://www.theautobahn.com/forum/showcar.php?do=view_photo_group&car_model_id=135&type=Art&num=1
Click on the picture and you can read the advertisement. Since the ad is from Porsche itself, I doubt they'd miss type the model number.

Neo: we may both be right. More research suggests that there was a 924 GTP for 80 and a 944 GTP for 81
The link above states the 944 was entered in 81.
The link below states the 924 GTP LM was also a 924 CGT LM
http://www.theautobahn.com/forum/showcar.php?do=view_specs&car_model_id=407
What brought that to mind was these:
http://www.race-cars.com/utility/porscher.htm
http://www.cantonia.com/prod_numbers.html
Two seperate production spec sheets indicating each had a GTP car.

hey guys, talked to fabcar yesturday and they turned me over to jerry woods enterprises, anyway talk to them for a little bit and indeed they built the engine, but they wouldn't go into specfics, anyway they told me that most of the parts used on that car were 1-off pieces so no luck there, still waiting on a guy from auto atlanta (www.autoatlanta.com) to give me a call back, he seems just as excited about this as I am, Oh yea heres something interesting, if you call up 944 online (www.944online.com), the owner is a real jack off, he wouldn't even help me or anything, in fact he told me the best thing to do is just buy a 944 turbo, and he tried to sell me one, and after that he suggested to drop a v-8 LT1 in the car for around 9,000. DUDE i'm tryin to keep it as much porsche as possible what the hell. Anyway check back with yall later

You are correct, that owner is a jack off, but a very knowledgeable jackoff at that! If you can get over his accent and listen through the BS, he almost knows what he's talking about!
Really though, if you want to build a GTR clone, you''ve got a very long process ahead of you.
Small list of big money items:
1) Turbo tranny (N/A trannies are too weak for the power)
2) Turbo engine parts inc. pistons, DME, TC, oil cooler assy, intercooler (may be substituted)
3)944S head (IIRC), belt system, custom intake, custom exhaust, all custom bodywork
It ain't cheap, but good luck. I saved off all the suspension and brake upgrades $$$ because it seems as if you are going after more straight line performance. (I feel the flames already) Post 3 said you have pics, care to share?

well, www.gt-racing.com has all the parts that i need for the body at least to make it a wide body. Then i'm gonna redo the hatch into something like this, http://www.allporscheracing.com/Images/Euro_Hatchs.jpg as far as the engine goes, going to try and find around an 86 turbo engine, possible s2 then go from there, tryin to get as my power out of that engine as possible. (there gonna love me at the dyno shop)

I'd bank for the turbo engine, they're a lot easier to get v/s an S2 engine and easily upgradeable.
Will you be using the turbo DME or building a custom management system?

now see i dont know, because if i use the stock one, its only gonna produce stock performance, so probably some aftermarket one, like a stage 2 or something. Now here is my question, if i get a turbo trany and the turbo engine, who make the best upgraded turbos for that car and I want to put a loud blow off vavle on it. but next question is, will everything like the drive shaft and shit in my car now work with a turbo 86 engine and trany. hmmmmmmmmm interesting.

I don't have a turbo but i heard these were excellent sites.

A turbo tranny IIRC should bolt right up and allow you to reuse the halfshafts. I'll double check though. The torque tube and bell housings are identical.
