Does anyone know where I could find (and what exactly it's called) window weather stipping trim for an 87 4 door escort? The stuff I'm looking for is the rubber strips at the bottom of all side windows on the inside and outside of the window....that the window slides through while rolling it up or down. No clue what it's called, so kind of hard to search. The trim on my car is cracked and actually GONE on a few portions around my windows. Would be kinda nice to fix it....

I am not sure but, I have heard of a few people who peeled it off masked carfully around the strips and painted them black. One person put on some resin of some kind. I am going to paint mine black too. I plan on doing the same to the strips on the roof on my 93 escort

I also need the rubber strips along the horizontal top of the door (where the window retracts into the door), I guess used to keep the moisture out. This is different from the coated metal in the center of the front and back window. It is dry-rotted and crumbling. Would lke to replace before paint. Also, rubber trim around perimeter of hatch back window??

A junk yard or order them. I know if you go to ford they wont be cheap.

That was me that "painted" mine with resin(the post is in here). When did I do that?Must be over a year ago.I DON'T think these are fixable with other than resin.I THINK these are almost like a white metal coverred with rubber/rubber like material..somehow bonded/fused.I tried in spots to re-juvenate/color/cover the Rubber/moulding.I asked around for ideas.Armorall SEEMED to work..but then I quicky realized that it didn't.There are some rubber type coatings..these are expensive..but what about the color? Not sure if it would even bond? Also the damaged areas?I have seen some REALLY BAD!.Mine were bad enough..the real tricky parts are where the moulding is flapping around like a skin.I can't see any kind of paint working..nor would it be thick enough.Mine STILL look really good! after the job..a year later! The only problem was that a few of the "flaps" of rubber that were loose..I tried to lift them up and put resin UNDER them to sort of glue them down. There were a few small wrinkles left.I guess I could sand them down.LOL..I waxed the car with some of that "Turtlewax colored wax..GREAT! stuff..AND decided to do the mouldings..errr..the car is deep, dark blue/the mouldings black.I never sanded or refinished/top coated them..they are slightly rough.LOL..the colored wax stuck in the roughness..FORTUNATELY all of the mouldings are a bit rough surrface..LOL..there is sort of this light blue hue..five o'clock shadow..to the mouldings now..BUT it looks even better!!..matched against the other black..and the blue of the car.The ONLY way to get this wax off is wear off, strip it,pressure wash.In hindsight..I am extremely pleased with this overall..BUT I am not sure if I would reccommend it..sure it is dirt cheap and easy to do..looks great and lasts..BUT!! ROFL..you ever got sloppy, poor masking, spilled this stuff..even made a mistake..knowing what I know about this stuff..you'ld have to throw the door out..LOL..instant "cop car" (back) windows don't go down..errr.permament cop car.

Well I found out that if you can get a flathead screw driver or maybe a putty knife would work you can take the whole thing off the door. I found out when I started to peel it off it came off and I slightly bent it. Where did you get that resin?

I work with fiberglass a fair bit..so I just used some good quality polyester resin that I got from a plastic's distributor that I deal with.I thickened it with talc.
