downpipe, bigger injectors, fuel pressure riser, and some way to tune it. Also a boost guage and a boost controller if you want to boost above the level on the wastegate spring. You'll probably also want a blow off valve of some sort as well as new intake piping. You also need a pipe from the turbo to the throttle body, or if you're getting an intercooler, pipng to it and then the throttle body. You also need oil lines to lubricate the turbo.

theirs one thing you need

A book all about turbos. Try boarders books or amazon.com

You will also probably want to get a wide band 02 sensor, and a new MAF. Tunning it will be fun  . If you ask me, there really isn't any good cheap way of turboing a car. Cheap = not good. If you go and do it, make sure its done right. It will save money in the long run. If you are really serious about doing it, do your research. BTW, what kind of car is this for anyways (that should of been the first question)?

you could probably get a kit for you car, look for one of those, they'll have all you need and probably instructions.

this is going on a sohc 240sx, how do i run an oil line to the turbo? can i just use any tubing to go to the throttle body? i really dont want to use a kit because they are $2k and up, i know i can put one together for about half that, the only thing im having a hard time finding is the manifold i need, they make em for dohc but not single, can i just cut off the flange and weld on one that will fit my car?

Oil lines will come from the oil pressure sending unit. www.import-autoperformance.com has a kit for the KA. You don't need an intercooler if you run below 7psi. Turbo manifolds go for the KA24E all the time on www.ebaymotors.com. T3 flanged. A T3 off of a Z31 would be a great turbo for your car. The stock MAFS is good up to approx. 250whp. SR20DET 370s work I believe. You will need a fuel computer to tune the injectors down. An Apex Super Air Flow Converter(SAFC) I or II will work. I plan on getting II for the Vent to Atmosphere tuning feature. You can also use a Fuel Management Unit(FMU) and do away with the injectors and fuel computer. Not the good way, but it does work. A 6:1 would work pretty well. If you plan on running more than 6-7psi, then go with the injectors and fuel computer. You don't really want to run more than 70-80psi of fuel pressure on the stock fuel system. You will need an upgraded fuel pump. Walbro 255lphs work great. Get a 300zxTT fuel filter. Boost gauge is a good idea. You will need a wastegate. Make sure you get one with a 5psi or lower spring. A boost controller will only let you run higher than the spring rating. Turbonetics and Tial both make good wastegates. Find out what the manifold is flanged for. Internal wastegates aren't as good as external. Boost spikes and what not. Piping isn't all that important if you are running low boost. I'm using PVC piping for mine, but I'm only going to be running 5psi. The more boost you run, the hotter the air intake charge gets. Make sure you route all of your existing vaccum lines on the intake over to the intake side of the turbo. Your idle will be FUBARed if you don't and you don't want to pressurize the enigne with the PCV hose. Don't get too small or too big of a turbo. Too small=overspin. Too big=poor response. Too big is definately better than too small, but a properly sized turbo will be much better. The Z31 T3 is a good choice. A lot of people use it. If you use the FMU, make sure to plumb the BOV vent back into the intake side of the turbo between the turbo and MAFS. Get a good checkup on the engine. Compression and so on. Again, if you are running over 5psi, you will need some kind of timing retard. Either back it off or get a MSD Boost Timing Master(BTM). It provides a better spark along with automated timing retard porportional to boost levels. Thats all I can think of for now. Good luck.

i want to run like 12psi of boost, can a z31 turbo keep up with that? the fuel computers are the ony thing that i dont understand at this point, i know how to set it up now but i thought i could just throw some bigger injecters in their and be good, didnt know i had to get a whole fuel manegment system, so much for it being under a grand, guess ill just wait awile and buy a kit, damn.

I'm not too sure about 12psi on the stock pistons. It has held before, but not such a great idea. The Z31 can do 12psi, but that isn't really a horsepower standard of measurement. What determines how much power you make is the flow of the turbo. 12psi on the Z31 T3 might be the same as 7 or 8psi on a nice sized T4. The other thing you can do is a hacked MAFS. Search the web for it. I would do a fuel controller over that though. Plan on spending about $700-$1000 on the fuel system alone. Just run 5psi for now and upgrade the fuel system as you get the money. 5psi off of that turbo is fine. If anything do the FMU. You can turn the boost up later.

From what i've heard i think you should get a boost controller, i hear it helps prevent exhaust creeping and lowers the lag. ask someone more knowledgeable about it.
