just depends. manual boost controllers are really enexpensive and do the exact same thing as single stage electronic boost controller does. except eat into your pocket.
with a frontwheel drive car putting down serious hourse power it might not be a bad idea to have a dual stage manual boost controller, or step up to a rpm controlled boost controller like apexi to gain more traction off the line.
yes with electronic boost controllers you can set boost to what you want. apexi's boost controller can set/change boost every 200rpm (not possitive).
it just depends on how much you want to spend. i have a regular old manual boost controller becasue i have an awd and traction isnt any problem
the installation is extreamly easy with a manual boost controller. i've never intalled an electronic one, but i've heard they can be challenging.

I agree with scottsee. If you're AWD, a simple manual boost controller will be all you really need. If you're FWD, then you might want to invest in an electronic boost controller to help with the traction issues you will face. www.boostcontroller.com has manual boost controllers for like $45 shipped to your door!

Of course Electronics are better, they just cost more. If you are going to run a race car, you might get a manual though, as there were some problems with the GReddy going over 26psi. They are a bit more complicated, but you can do anything you want for 300 dollars. Buy it, set high and low, and forget about it from there, or try to mess with it to get everything perfect.

main difference:
manual: stop, pop hood, adjust, drive to test, repeat
electronic: mash gas, adjust, repeat

I have a blitz electric boost controller and i love it. I bought it used in Japan so it wasnt that expensive. But i like the fact that it has a warning mechanism that will lower the boost if it goes past the highest set boost. To prevent over boosting and blowing your engine. I can also set 4 boost levels and tells me my peak boost.

It is really easy, all you have to do is run wires through your firewall to a boost controler solenoid and run a vac line to your vac line on your bov. Then wire your power and ground to the controler unit.
