Go big, or go home. Nah, just do what ever you want, scoops are easy to make.

Agreed, whats funny is people trying to convince ME that I need a hood scoop.

"Nah man I saw one on an MR2, it looked HOT"

"Yeah, and why? So i can get more air to my spare tire?"

lol, well i'll make a foam mock up and get a pic and see what u guys think of it, i dunno how some people would think its rice tho, its custom... and functional, it serves its purpose and does what its supposed to do, it shouldnt be considered rice, i'm doing somthing different, i havent seen a single civic with a scoop like my idea

Nooooooo man don't do a hood scoop. They look terrible on imports. Unless you're going to put a 350 under the hood.

u see, the scoop i'm making would NEVER work for a 350 because of size and location

alright being from NY, we see alot of shit over here, and ive personally seen the scoop on like the left side of the hood just over the intake, and it is garbage, i soo wanted to pee into the opening and right onto his filter, if you do wanna make a mock up, do that and you'll see what i mean, but for the love of god, dont waste money on one.

thanx man, i guess people are just scared about change with cars, they think that u cant use a hood scoop unless it has 8 cylinders

and i'm not even sure if i'm gonna use it, i wanna see how it looks first in the foam mould before i even make a decision, and eventually i wanna tape my whole hood and use it as a mould and make a fiberglass hood :) i think it would be something very different that noone has :) and thats kinda what i'm about, being different hence making a body kit, and making my own kind of styling with this car :) and i think its cool ur doing the same thing man. we cant all keep doing the same thing or we'll all look the same. we need our own style! and if u guys think my car looks gay because of something i do but i like it then what ever, i dont care

hell i'm even thinkin about making a scoop on the side of the fender instead of the hood, same style tho, its like a universal scoop.

also, since ur creative, how should i attach the scoop? i was thinkin fiberglass bolts into it and secure it with nuts underneath and the mould it in and make it look like one piece :)

actually it wont be a waste of money, i'll be using scraps and left overs from my body kit. i have tons of left over fiberglass and i can get it all for next to nothing so it doesnt matter, i could prolly make one for 5 bucks

yeah, I'v fiberglassed studs in stuff before and attached it that way then molded it flush into the hood. Works good, the bolts give it good reinforcement. 3M makes a "glue" that is specificly made to attach fiberglass to metal that works good (its what holds the door skins on cameros).

You can use mold release over your hood to fiberglass over it and get the shape, or you can cover it in tape and build kinda a box around the outside edge of the hood all the way around and use expanding foam and pour it over it, it will give you the shape.

thats a neat idea actually about the expand a foam! i may actually try that :)

and how did u manage to fiberglass studs in? just stick them in the foam or something?

i appreciate all the help man, u should make a book on this stuff :)

yeah thread into the foam then fiberglass around it, you'll have to clean up the threads afterwards but thats no problem.

I am just going to hammer a hole over my air filter, that way I don't have to spend any money, and its original!

I cut a hole into my bumper for my filter, its a little smoother now though, and also more rectangular instead of rigid.

No doubt. Its dumb when people say shit like "Yah bro, be orginal" and crap like that when in reality you're copying shit people have been doing to thier cars for 30+ years, and 20,000,000 other ricers are light years ahead of you with the scoops and the wings, and the spaceman bodykits.

Its all so annoying.. Its actually more "original" these days to have a done up Honda with out useless or tatseless body mods.
