Yes it would be possible.
It would have to be from a Zx2, none of the other Zetec share the same mount.
You would need the tranny, flywheel, all the drive train, complete harness, fuel pump with harness and PCM, and possible the dash/cluster.
You can also swap in a 97 SPI SOHC much easyer, it can replace the 1.9 and you can reuse every thing else.

sweet.. like the sounds of the first one better... i can see several advantages to a DOHC specialy preformace wise.. sounds like a bit of greif to get it done but ill see what i can do.. costly though.

Zetec 130hp/125tq
SPI 110hp/125tq
1.9 88hp/108tq
The DOHC may sound better to start with, but that is a lot of work and money for 20 more horses.
Keep in mind It's easyer and cheaper to turbo a SOHC.
So far my SPI powerd 93 lx run's 14.5@95mph in the 1/4 mile. That's nothing super great, but I've only spent a few hundred bucks to get there.

be bout 40 odd horses and 17 torque.. well worth it.. now modifications in the mechanical sence?
whats the max the cylinders can be bored out to?
can they be sleeved?
can dual spark plugs be set up on this?
can the head be bored to provide more complete combustion?
super charged/turbo charged?
valve size increased, along with bore?
more aggressive cams?
stronger valves with sodium core?
higher tention valve springs?
Fuel injectors
Forced air
.etc
ok i think yall get the point.. willin to sink bout 20 grand into this here.
If i find a zx2 witha good body and a good enigne on the cheap side then will use that in place of me 93.

If it's a 98 and newer 2 door then it has a Zetec.
If it's a 4 door then it's the SOHC.
I'd like to see a link of that 2.4 Escort you found.

zx2 cant be bored to 2.4 it wil only go to like 2.23 or something like that, and boring a zx2 is pointless and costs more then the gains are worth.

That's the point I was getting to, but if there really was some one claiming to have a 2.4, I'd want to see it.

I looked in the yellow pages at my house and found a place that imports U.K. motors. You can get a escort cossie turbo for $3500 cdn. All the wires will fit motor mounts can be bought for a direct fit and you get about 250 bph and 240 foot pounds

but a cossie motor isnt like any of the US motors. the car it self is completely differnt

I talked to they guy at the shop andhe said that there is two different types of motor. One front wheel drive and one all wheel drive. The front wheel drive will fit a north america car with a different motor mount. The shop will sell the mounts with the motor for an extra $50.

The European has a different motor arangement. It's a completely different motor not even the same block, the tranny is differnt, the suspetnion is differnt EVERYTHING, if any Euro Zetec fits the ZX2/Focus/Escort it would be the 1.8 from the Puma, and that would require getting a MTX-75 tranny to fit in the Escort and that requres custom axles and a lot of work to get the Clutch to fit (there is a reasson only 1 person has put a mtx-75 in a zx2). The Puma swap is pointles anyway it makes less power then the Focus/Countor/ZX2/Cougar Zetecs
and a motor from a Focus requires more then just one change to fit in a Escort, you need the tranny(lot of work to get it to fit), fabricate axles, and MAYBE in a ZX2 you will only need a mount or 2, bit for an escort it will be a LOT of more work in the engine bay. And if a Cossie swap was possible and not to much work a lot of people would have done that.
