Smog removal today

I basically am going to try this when I find a dayco dealer.

advance auto sells dayco, and im pretty sure auto zone does as well.

Found the belt from Checker's but they said they can't order is , wtf ? They have iot priced for 48.65 but they can't order it ? o.o fisheh

could prolly find one at an online distributor somewhere for cheaper than that...

It seems pep boys carries Dayco line as well , for 29.99 =D welp , off to get my belt ( Only one in stock so I'm out. ) Will let you guys know ( who haven't done anything like this.) how this works out.

Well , Everything was a success , I have better amp coming out , a little more response in the steering and a noticable boost in torque , Not much but it's there , maybe 5-10 HP. Next is an AC delete pulley =D
I got one thing left to do and that is to figure out what size of star* like bit I need to get those damn star* headed bolts out with so I can finish taking the smog pump out. Friggin crap. I pulled the pulley off so the belt could go on and that works but the shaft rubs the belt by a 1/4" and I know that won't be good for it so until I get the smog pump completely out , crap!

Heres what she looks like. Runs well I noticed my RPM went up a little on idle as well but I will adjust fuel and air ratio tomorrow.

I took her out for a bit and she chirped just a hair more than usual on a 1.5k rpm take off.

I would recommend this to anyone who wants to get rid of that peice of shit smog pump. The belt isn't too much , the T-star bit is easily found at any automotive parts store ( ie: Autozone , Napa , Checker , Pep boys. ) The size was a T-45 and they came out rather easily. Estimated Removal time with right tools - 5 minutes max.
I'm ordering a A/c delete pulley this morning as well so when I recieve that I will update about that too.

Some one should design a front end component engine mount that has the Alt - PS - WP - Tensioner all on off one side mount instead of all over the damn place.If anyone knows of a company that has already designed such a thing , let me know a link of company name , I am highly interested in it if not , Perhaps I will look into designing something like that. Who knows..

could always just fab one up...

I say go with an electric water pump and only worry about the PS alt and tensioner.

i heard the electric pump was a bad idea unless you were doing hard core NHRA drag racing. as in, not good for street apps...

Both deletes are finished now , smog and a/c.

When I took the a/c pump off and free spun it compared to the delete pulley free spin , the a/c motor had a ton of drag in it. My baby is cookin now.

ummmmm dayco???? you mean delco???? as in AC delco, the GM brand??? perhaps your local dealer or www.gmpartsdirect.com

It was a Dayco belt. Not ac delco =P

I's one of those dying out but struggling to hange on companies , any 93.8" belt serpatine will do however.

i heard the electric pump was a bad idea unless you were doing hard core NHRA drag racing. as in, not good for street apps...

That USED to be the case but now there are good electric pumps for street use that will run for 5000 hours.
