Wednesday at 8:00pm (east coast) myth busters are going to see how to beat a radar gun. Could be interesting.

i think i've seen a show on this before, not sure but i think it was top gear episode, where they test how fast you have to be going to be too fast for the radar to catch you. As i recall there was only a handful of cars which could go at the speed necessary which i think was around 170miles per hour. Sorry, just can't seem to remember exact details, but all i remember is them saying that there were only a few cars that could actually beat the radar in speed.

Still, if you're going that fast, a cop doesn't need the radar to tell him that you're speeding.

It's true that the cop will know you're going that fast, but can he/she prove it in court?

Who said the ticket would be for speeding?
"Speed not reasonable or prudent"
"Excessive Speed"
"Failure to obey traffic signs"
"Wreckless driving"
"Careless driving"
"Speed not safe for conditions"

Easy, play the tape from their in-car cameras. They'll have a good shot of your car flying by at over 170.

or easy... helicoptor backup...
i've seen a bike go 200 and get clocked by a helicopter cause the cop couldn't get a good reading. needless to say, one of the highest speed tickets ever

Cops don't need to have you on radar to issue a speeding ticket. All they need is their word, and it'll beat yours in court anyday. You could be going 180mph, all he has to do is write you a ticket for 120mph, and you just lost your license...

Sure. If you got the $$$, yea you can undo anythin. But 99% of us dont so in general its probly not a good idea to do twice the speed limit.
