Project 331 vs Ram SRT-10

Yes folks, believe it or not, a Ram SRT-10. What with all the stories I've put up, including the off-topic one about the twin-turbo Hemi Durango, I guess this is just fitting. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/images/smilies/evil_lol.gif
I'll get back to that one.
Anyhow, Brandon gives me a call, as he is taking-out the car for spin for one of the first times (about 300 miles on the motor, including the dyno sessions), and asks if I wanted to ride-along. "Why not?", I said...http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/images/smilies/uhoh.gif
So, Brandon picks me up. This is the first time I've ridden in his car, especially since the 331 went in.
The first time he stepped on it...
...BAM! I'm slumping down on my seat. "FUCK, we're gunna hit Grandpa in the Buick in the next lane!" - I'm thinking to myself. This car can get squirrelly in a hurry, what with street-tires, attempting to rein in his 351WHP. "I guess this is what drunk squirrels feels like." - again, thinking to myself.
Everytime he gets on it, I just get this sense that the rear-end of the car is trying to outrun the hood. Fun, in a "I hate life, I wanna die" sort of way. Of course, this is as a passenger. I hate being a passenger. I'm not in control, dammit, and it feels wrong. LOL
"But, but...where's the truck with the Viper V-10 from the title?"
Shut up. It's coming.
So we go hang-out at this Sonic at around 35th Avenue and Union Hills, where, as fast as Brandon's car is, there were some humbling cars, ranging from 400 to 550WHP. Mustangs, old and new, Camaros, old and new. A few ricers tried to squeeze-in, but the parking-lot was full. (Niener, niener-niener http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/images/smilies/lol2.gif)
After hanging-out for a bit, bullshitting about cars, and Prochargers, and Incon TT kits, it was time to go.
Here comes the good part.
Getting-on the freeway to my part of town, what do we see merging from another freeway? Yep you guessed it. A cop...
Nah...just kidding, although we did see a cop merging, I am jumping ahead to the SRT-10 part. Not because you're bitching or anything...
So yeah, I was the first to say something.
Me: "Dude..."
Brandon: "Is that a..."
Me: "Yep. That's an SRT-10."
Me: "Man, we need a story for AF tonight."
Brandon: "Is that a..."
Me: "YES!"
I must say, that thing was modded a bit. At least the exhaust definitely didn't sound stock.
We just got next to it a bit, and just kinda paced. I told Brandon to maybe rev a bit. Just then the SRT-10 Ram jumps, and so did Brandon. It wasn't a real run, that time. Just a signalling of intentions.
Finally, I see the SRT-10 get next to us, with its windows down. Ours was already down, so Brandon had a yelling conversation with the passenger and driver of the uber-Ram.
At the point I hear Brandon yell "Just for fun!", I see the SRT slow down to about 60mph or so. "Brandon, he's lining-up with you", I said.
Both punch it, and we actually pulled on this 500HP behemoth.
Nice.
And then I see them signalling to exit, and I'm thinking to myself: "Uh-oh, they want some more."
They signalled to us to exit too, and that's when we knew it was really on.
As we exit, both vehicles slow-down to a 30-40 roll. No honking, the SRT just takes off, which prompts Brandon to punch it too.
We IMMEDIATELY stop his pull (he was ahead by half-a-car), and actually make it even. That's where it stood, as we had to slow down for traffic ahead. Brandon was too busy looking ahead, and I was too busy holding-on, so we didn't know how fast we went.
After the race, we were whoopin' and hollerin' like two fucking kids in a candy-store with no adults.
After experiencing what Brandon's car can do, I was thinking: "We should have pulled harder..."
Sure enough.
Brandon was too excited, and left it in third for the SRT race. Third from a 30-40mph punch. Third, which is about 2500rpms, barely above idle, for the car at those speeds.
Geesh.
Either way, good runs Brandon, and damn, I can't wait for November! Let's do it again next weekend, and let's bring Dan, dammit! :)

Arcie you told that story perfectly! LOL especially the parts where i was like "is that a?, is that a?!". Dude those were the funnest races i've ever had. other than the close one's we had when my car was stock w/bolt on's. hehehee I really wanted to go from a dig, i swear we would've won by ALOT more. I still can't believe we pulled on him, gave him a jump then stopped his pull and started reeling him in. i think i underestimated my own car LOL

Comp cams XE274HR. Lift is .555/.565 with 274 degrees of advertised duration. It has a pretty lopey idle but i love it! hehehe :iceslolan
edit: the rpm range is 2200-6200 so we were right in the middle of the power band when i punched it. still though, would've been a lot better if i downshifted. I'm an idiot.

GOOD run. That's a fast Mustang. The SRT-10 has a crazy sounding exhaust stock from what I've heard. I have yet to see one up close.

Both punch it, and we actually pulled on this 500HP behemoth....
Here's one reason
Curb Weight Mustang - 3191
Curb Weight Srt10 - 5000(est)
Coming from msn car stats so yeah it is a behemoth
But fun race, I've only ever seen one of those around where I am and the fuckin' owner is around 60 and he has altezza's on it and every car in his driveway.

yup, the stroke of a 331 vs. 302 is 3.25 vs. 3.00 in. It's also .030 overbored pistons but i seriously doubt that really makes any difference heh. the overbore i mean.
