My BIG complaint with the STI

Here it is-

Whats with the pink lettering/badging?!?!?!?!?

This is no doubt one of the fastest production cars ever made in the entire history of the automobile and I would love to have one, but why is STI written in pink everywhere?
On the motor it's in red on the intercooler so why is the rest of the car in pink. It looks stupid-I don't care what anybody say's about the color pink, the only place pink should be is on a girl.

Why the hell screw up one of best cars ever with pink lettering/badging?

I think you just are not secure in your sexuality. I think it looks pretty cool, it works well with the blue.

It's "Cherry Blossom Red." In print they ask for it to be 100% magenta ink.

I don't remember all the story behind it, but it has everything to do with Japanese culture, and the way they celebrate the change of the seasons (Spring, I'm pretty sure?)

Personally, for me, I prefer function WAY OVER form. So a little pink trim doesn't bother me in the least. Besides, it's simple to pull a few badges and decals off.

BTW, don't ever look for pics of Yashio Factory cars. You'll end yourself.

i dont think color compares with power/performance. i'd ride an sti that has been sanded down to the bare metal...it wouldnt be good but hey, im not letting a little color get in my way.

I own a STi, fun car man.

Cherry blossom red is a symbolically powerful national color for the Japanese. It's sort of like red and blue for Americans or green for Arabs. Don't think of it as pink. If you see anything labeled STi that's actually pink, don't get it. Only cherry blossom red. I personally like the cherry blossom red accents, especially on a black STi. There's something about it that says, "I am a very powerful Japanese machine. Bring it."

AvAlAnChE1090 - So you own an STi as well as a WRX wagon??? Thats pretty awsome...

Anyways in japan Pink is a powerful color... Some of the top cars in Japan are pink not to mention all the Yashio Factory cars... Basically what Subaru was trying to do is make a car that is so powerful that even if there was a little pink on there it would signify total dominance... Hence the STi was born... Initially the Pink badges came out starting with the V3 STi to present...

It's great you were given the car, personally, I'll get my WRX wagon when I can afford and enjoy it knowing I earned it :) (Don't want to sound mean, I just like to get my own stuff and know it's mine).

SabreKhan
10-14-2004, 02:21 PM
Ugh, no. Especially when you live in an apartment complex and don't have ready access to the water supply (somebody's always parked in front of the spigot). Even when you do have access, though, it still takes hours to hand-wash and hand-wax the whole car. Besides, I'd rather be driving anyway.

kichigaijap

HAHAHA nice Sabre I would rather drive as well than be washing and waxing... Though its the pimp factor of having a washed and waxed car to drive...

Oh, yeah. It's always *nice* to have a clean car, and mine gets washed about once every three weeks or so, but it's just a pain in the @$$ to actually a) remember, and b) actually do it.

Does that Mr. Clean autodry crap actually work? Never tried it yet.

I have one, it works great for me. Also cuts down on the time to actually wash the car. Can rinse, soap and use the soft water stuff all from the hose. Good stuff.

Sorry to butt in but I would have to disagree... that Mr. Clean stuff is pretty good until it rains... 1 Yes it doesnt leave waterspots only because it IS one big waterspot... 2 it does cut time in washing your car but it takes off some wax as well... Just to let you know so be careful how you spend that $20

ragnarok720
10-16-2004, 06:00 AM
must buy some crappy wax then cause i use maguires and ive washed my car 10x with it so far, about once a week, and my wax on it is still great. I never have trouble when it rains either. My carl ooks good for about 3 or 4 days long as i use my california duster (which i usually forget about)

Well Im just saying it from my point of view I live in Hawaii and it rains here so much that thats the reason Im complaining... I mean yea it does what it says it will do but Im still dissappointed with the results... for me washing my car by hand has a nicer shine to it... I guess its my preference

Been raining here in cali for the last few days, washed my car off pretty nicely. The heat also effects the way the washer works too, i do it late day or early morning so it doesnt dry so fast.

well back to the topic about pink, i dont care about the badges being pink it's different than the usual red badges,EX: honda, what i dont understand are these wannabe thugs walking around with pink shirts now adays

Automobile Maniac

Drifty, you are the only one here to seem to be catching my "drift". Okay-Subarus pink (cherry blossom) color is a recognized color of Japan. Now that someone informed me of that, I totally accept it on the car now-though I would dye/paint it red if I had the car. Anyhow, what I was really trying to point out here is that pink does not look cool, it basically makes the male gender wearing the color look like a sissy, wimp, bitch, idiot, penis licker. I seen a guy at our state fair during the summer wearing a pink shirt, baggy shorts and white nikes that had a big pink swoosh sign on them. I really wanted to go over there and throw my beer on him and say you look like a f**k**g idiot, but he had his big black gang with him so I did not. Guys-unless you recently had a sex change, don't wear this color, you look stupid.

No, I think Keita is quite right.

If you have that much of an issue with a color, you have some deeper issue to address.

I don't like pink shirts, but I sure don't get wound up about some other guy wanting to wear a pink shirt, nor do I care if the STI emblem is pink, white or any other color.
I won't buy an STI for the color of the badge, I WILL buy an STI for the performance factor though.

wow the guy that posted this thread sure sounds like a closet flamer to me. lol get over pink, it's just a color. i don't like or own any pink shirts but the ladies seem sure like a guy in a pink shirt for some reason. it's a fad, it'll pass. as for the badges on the Sti, they look pretty cool on pretty much every color of the car, except for maybe the silver. it looks especially good on black or white. just my 2 cents. late

Too many people do that, lol. But it looks hella sick.

And, I love my STi, to death. Colors would not stop me driving such a beast.
