Please help. The back doors of my 2001 Eddie Bauer edition Ford Explorer will not open from the inside. Any thoughts on what the problem could be??? My Rear Door Child Safety Locks are supposed to be off. It's as though when I flip the switch they never disengage.

Hi there...
I have the same problem...I just purchased a 2000 Ford Explorer and the right rear child safety locks keeps engaging....I keep in in the unlocked position and for some reason...it keeps clicking into the other position.....kinda a pain in the @## when my kids are trying to get out of the vehicle...especially when they reef on the doors to get out anyway....
any advice out there.......

I had the same problem on one of my back door locks. I thought it was the child lock but it was the door handle. You wil probably have to get a new handle which should be about 12 dollars. I have heard of this happening to several others. Good luck

I found that the problem can be caused by somebody trying to open when the child locks are on and the rod that attaches the handle to the door latch can actually bend. Remove the door panel and make sure the rod has not been bent.
