Tail light Conversions (pics)

I'm about to do a tail light conversion with my car, and I wanted to see what all had been done on 4g's and CRX's. I was gonna go with with S2000 or RX8 lights, but then I saw a rex with some S2000's in a picture. So anyone with any pictures of tail light conversion, please post them. Thanks....

I got a bunch of taillight and headlight conversions, I'll try to get them up tomorow, or if anyone wants to host them I'll email them to you can throw them up tonight.

this is my hatch, but im gunna switch these out for the newer teg lights, the charcoal ones. either that or supra tailights, cuz ive seen a crx wit supra lights inna video

Turns out the whole folder is currupt, I got a serious probelm with this computer, has a 30 gig hard drive and has nothing but windows and my isp on it and it has no space left. I'll try to get it working and post them up.

well I wouldnt really call it a work computer, its a computer at my shop that I sit here and post on the forums with when I'm not working on something

hmmm, is it easy to go to 88-89 sedan tallights from my 90 4-door? I think it fits in the same, jus gotta paint over the centerpiece n move over the reverse lights, etc or something

hey posey, if you search the forum for Front End Conversion you'll find a thread that has pictures of taillight conversions in it. It was a while back but someone posted a bunch of pictures front end swaps and taillight swaps. It may be under like Front Swap or something.

I don't think the searching thing will work... Just tried myself to check them out and only got this thread.... That is strange. I might have to go back and do a manual search...

im not into the whole 'make your car look nothing like stock' thing but the cleanest taillight conversion ive ever sen on a 4g hatch was a set of 98+ prelude tails

dont know where you would find a picture of it, it was a few years back when i saw it..

i saw a teg with cl headlights and nsx tails once at the old local "Lot", it was very nice... But its not a 4th gen...

the nsx tails look cool, and the supra tails look good on that copper rex

the blue one with supras looks like a hack job from hell. Supra lights look too forced, dont look natural at all. I was thinking about some accord lights that look somewhat like the NSX lights for my hatch.

the NSX lights are cool, don't like the supra ones tho... i like RSX lights on 4th gens

Yea, supra lights are way overdone. I was thinking about RSX lights but I can't find a set that I like. The black ones won't look good since everything else is clear, and I'm not a fan of Altezza style lights....

I have seen 96 prelude tail lights on a crx with very little mods

the nsx tails look cool, and the supra tails look good on that copper rex

I agree. NSX tails might be tough to find though, but Accord lights are quite similar like Silent said and you could probably find them in a junkyard.

EDIT: I'm not sure how they'd look on a 4g4d though... hmm

how hard is it to do a conversion anyway?

u gotta cut to fit the taillights and then bolt em in and make room for the sockets and all, then u gotta fill in the parts still open with like metal, bondo, and fiberglass.

I'm thinking Teg lights would look good on my 87... But I'm not going to do anything extreme until I get the motor finished. *fumes some more*

prelude tails is the way to go, or rsx tails they are hot, i got a picture it aint a crx but you can get the idea

i want rsx tails on my rex. i dont think it would be that hard, just buy em and fit em in.

92 and 93 are slightly different in some respects though.

the stock prelude tails dont fit in the buckets in that picture because i didnt trim any of the excess plastic from them. i wasnt sure if i was gonna use them, and i couldnt see myself wasting a perfect set of OEM prelude tails by hacking them up if i eventually went with the CF housing ones.

stock preludes look the best, i guess im just not a fan of how euros look

im using the OEM prelude ones. decided that the CF housing ones will be used strictly for test fitting, so i dont scratch the OEM ones.

the conversion will be nice when it finished, but right now its just two holes cut in my car, and angles cut in the hatch. trying to finish the rest of the bodywork. ill post some pictures tomorrow

I'll fit ITR 99' ones on mine I saw one civic 4th gen HB and it was absolutlly fabules with those tail lights...so my project will be done over the winter

This ones a guy from my town....I agree....they look like garbage, because they added them after paint and didnt want to re-paint the car.

Actually... well, I don't know about fitting a 4g but the new TSX (or I guess same as RL) tails are tight... Nice, small round LEDs. I see one on the way to work everyday. Tight car... and pretty quick too. I think the new Civic's tails are decent too. Anything LED looks tight IMO.

That's what they make LED bulbs for. :D

Personally, I would never trade out my stock tails. They're big bright and rectangular and work great.

I've got an old 85 in my backyard to practice on. But I want a little bit of the "custom" flare to it later on in it's life. I'm still going for the "sleeper" look, though.

I dont know about you guys, but I dont like any of these conversions. The only one i would ever to would be a 90-91 CRX taillight onto a 88-89 CRX. I love the stock taillights on my 91 Si, they are perfect, one of my favorite parts of the car
