but i think ur 1320 sould be in the 14's....but the casr potential isn't in straight line performance anyway...
so are u keepin it all-motor or going fi?? but i already know the answer to that question

But about the mid 15's.....maybe if he had some lame ass mini-me swap...LOL
I'm guessing high 14's.

Thanks guys.

you don't know the full potential of the car??
well itz not much the way it is...just like any other car with 160hp...compare it to a newer miata...or bowse the forum if u want to know itz full potential
buying a car with wiring problems suck...there was a b16 crx for sale for 2000 but had wiring problems...i don't think itz with the time to me...but sounds like an esay fix in ur case...just gotta locate the problem wires

I agree cuz you said you're using a 2000 Si tranny so it's different.
And, since you're car is an 89' go get an 88-89 Si cluster and plug it in.
Oh, and don't go racing anybody until you get a working tach cuz you will certainly have problems. My friend up north is doing that still on his new y8 swap and he's suppose to come visit me next month. I have a feeling he's gonna f*ck up his engine though.... GET A TACH!

yes i bought the car off of autotrader. and the 88-89 si cluster should work? Thanks for all the help.. i will try to get my digital camera out today cuz it finally stoped raining and i will post some more motor pics.
turtlecrxsi
10-11-2004, 11:14 AM
Yeah, the 88-89 is the only one that will work for those years so make definitely sure you really have an 89. First time I took cluster apart took about 30 min. and didn't actually remove it. The last time I took everything apart and it took me 15 min. Get a pen-magnet or use magnetic screwdrivers... it makes it a piece of a cake. Oh yeah, the Si tach redlines at 6.5-7 and only goes up to 8 but it's still better than nothing...

When the engine is fully warmed it should be a little less than 1000rpm.
Redline is 8000rpm. Anyone else have more info?

The biggest thing is to get you Sus. Dialed in if you have a crappy sus you never going to run good unless you are making a shit load of power!!. Just remember you have to keep the power down on the ground!!! This is a car he comutes with everyday to and from work and school...All Motor Baby!!!!!

you would be surprised how fast an older civic hatch/crx could get up put a b18 with a 2.0 stroker kit and a turbo you could hit tens with it tuned right. i have a friend who has a stock 1.5 non vtec with the internals completely rebuilt, to handle boost and turbo running 15lbs he runs 10.49 off 89 octane. he just got it tuned by tempest racing its a bad ass little sleeper.

do 2000 Civic Si's have B-series engines? i thought they had D series, so how would a B series tranny fit a D series engine?
pimprolla112
10-13-2004, 08:32 PM
look at any import drag race results the usual winners for stock class are the hatchback civics or crx they almost always come in the first 3 spots and they run 12 or faster. he had the intake manifold changed out and the car only weighs like 1800lbs so if you think its bs look at some nopi results.

yeah but it is possible to get those results from the stock motor. you cant argue with the results the winner or runner up is almost always a crx or civic. and there are cars on the streets that pull those results. and i did say that the internals are built up to handle boost he swapped out the shit tbi style fuel system for a direct port manifold. but is possible off the stock motor to get 10s.

How are you using the 00Si tranny? HAsport cable-hydro kit, or is it somehow using hydro clutch?

no nitrous. the stock base model motor has a tbi style injection system on the other motors the injectors are mounted in the intake runners. yeah i didnt think a crx would run past a 12 until i saw his friend from baltimore running 12.2 on the stock d16 with a turbo pushing 8lbs. the internals were built up to handle boost. the car only wighes 1800 lbs and it doesnt take much to move it. its is possible aem pro stock class all motor running 10.5 no nitro. dont believe you can find 10 sec crx's easily on the web.

You're talking about fully built d series with titanium everything and super high compression all motor or super tuned turboed. That's a big difference between a street driven d series crx. Let me tell you a short story. D16a6 fully built (not by me) high compression 11:1, cam, cam timing adv. 2 degrees, stock clutch, stock flywheel, pulleys, ported intake, i/h/e... I drove my car burning oil like this for over a year and then it detonated at 80mph and caught on fire. Sure, I was able to drive a built d daily for a year without much of a hitch but when the car caught fire after detonation, it really sucked. I kept the car replaced the d16 and run all the bolt ons and cam but I think I'll stick with an acceptable amount of compression for now. Hey, but if you have the money do what you want...

They're on the web, I know.. I've seen them, quite a few. You said you have a friend running 10s or something hilarious on a D15 with some boost. We're lauging at you.
1800lbs cars? Yes, they'll run 12s with not much power at all, but your friends CRX, this guys hatch, most CRXs on the intraweb you can find to prove a stupid point are much more than 1800lbs. My hatch is no pig, but its 2100+lbs. My friends rex is more than 1800lbs and he's got a strictly drag setup.. Lexan windows, totally 100% stripped trailer queen. It ran 12.7s with a B16 with an intake and a header.. No one could believe it was so fast but its so fucking light that you can just pick the rear end right up.
Power:weight is what will equal fast 1/4 times, however these drag cars you keep speaking of are far from daily drivers.
You're a fool and this guys B16 will rock your socks.
I demand pictures and an update when elaxxx gets the turbo setup!!!

you dont need titamium motor internals to run boost thats nitrous. yeah it would be better but its not needed for a turbo. and about your d16 it sounds like they didnt tune the motor right, it wasnt getting enough gas to much air. till he got the car tuned they installed a rev limiter for 4000 rpm so he wouldnt detonate it. now that its tuned he can rev up to about 9 grand. siz you do have a good point about the weight he hasnt weighed the car yet but it shouldnt be more than 2000 lbs.
