exhaust 2 bolt leak

ok i have scearched the fourm and i found many answers but not one to answer this.....

the olther day i was looking at the motor hoist bracket (or whatever that plate is that mounts with 2 screws from the exhaust manifold )

....it was corroded and surface rust, so it took off the 2 manifold bolts and the the olther bolt holding it in place. I sand blasted it gave it a fresh coat of paint and put it back on...looks great ....but when i started the car i noticed white smoke coming from where i took the 2 bolts off....now i know this is an exhaust leak...but just from removing 2 nuts and putting them back on..!!..now i was wondering do i need a new gasket or is there some kind of sealant i can use??


PS..idles normal ,but as soon as i rev past 2 grand ,the idle stay at 1500?

i hate when that happens you try to fix something and then things get worse

Har to believe you got a leak from that. Are you sure its not just the paint heating up? I'd give a week and see if it stops. Anything to do with your idle s unrelated to this of course, but I would suspect a sticking throttle plate by your brief description.

the smoke smells like exhaust...
