Bacon? Not on my menu...

So at around 1 pm this afternoon I was on my way home from Salt Lake. I was cruising at a good 90 mph or so when my radar detector was slowly letting me know that I was approaching the fuzz. If I can't see a cop within half a mile on my side of the highway I usually assume he's going the opposite direction.

So I keep going my pace when finally my radar starts to fade the signal. Then it starts to climb back up the ratings. Beeping faster and louder. So I look in my rearview to see lights flashing in the distance. Which I do, and it's coming fast. With quick thinking I decide to make the next exit.

Just in case I hop off the first exit that comes up and slow down. Well, I figured the cop was coming after me and with another glance he had done so. So I took a right at the stop sign, and he did the same. So I figured I'd pull over, get my license and registration ready, and wait patiently. Soon enough he came walking up to the window and asked for what I had already prepared for him. The first thing he noticed was that my radar detector was beeping continuously. By the way they aren't illegal in Utah.

Well, to make most of this story short he took a glance at me, and he looked very surprised. Then he stepped back and said, "Well whatya know, I got the wrong car." He came back to explain that he was trying to catch another Civic that comes through the area speeding. But he looked on the inside of my car, noticed the VAFC and the radar detector. He had a few questions about the radar detector.

He looks at it and I could see the gesture on his face change. So he asks, "Do those things really work?"
Me:"Yeah I haven't got a ticket since I've owned it." I paused realizing it was stupid to have said something like that. He could see that expression on my face and he kinda chuckled. So he let me go, and with a sigh of relief I went home :sunglasse . I was just glad that he wasn't an Ass like most of the bacon out there. Well, late....

Yea those radar detectors really save a lot of people in getting speeding tickets, there really good to have.

ohh man mine has saved me so many times now. As for cops, thats a pretty cool guy. Im gonna be bacon (or something in law enforcement) when im done with my college, but i wont be a dickhead, thats for sure.

I guess you don't get around the point of the mountain much. The Lehi police aren't so kind. I was coming down the point of the mountain at about 88MPH while passing someone. Noticed the highway patrol in the median and proceeded to my exit which is the Highland Alpine exit, so it isn't like I was trying to evade him.

Anyhow, he pulls me over and gives me a ticket for 75MPH in a 65. I was driving and Eagle Vision, with no tickets on my record, and it was the begging of the month. You think he could have let me off with a warning. He did reduce the speed though, that was nice of him.

However, it is a good thing he didn't catch me right before the point of the mountain in Draper. I was racing a supposed Civic Si Type R. I hit about 115MPH, and won.

yea some cops are really dickheads, I think they get paid more if they give out tickets. Just a thought. And nice kill on that civic, I hate civics so bad, THEY SUCK

Polygon, I recently went to a Traffic school in Orem, and the only reason they lower your speeding ticket is just to make you think they aren't being dicks. Trust me the traffic instructor told the whole class that specifically. As for the Civic, none of them are legit around here. They think just because they have a badge on their car they instantly become what it says. Ex: some guy put and SIR emblem on the back of his Del Sol, raced me, I beat him and ask if it was. He said no, just thought it was good for looks. Moron... Well, as for Avalanche, the whole comment about Civics, deal with it. Civics are Civics, they are made for fuel economy. So what if someone wants to fix it up. To tell you, there really isn't a thing on a civic that you can't upgrade besides the frame, as far as I can tell. Well, this really isn't worth arguing over. Yeah, I figured as much. I agree with you on the badge deal. I seem to see them all the time. However, if someone makes one fast, I think that is cool and they have my respect.

As for where I live, I live in Alpine, which is just across the road from Highland. Both of which are about five miles from American Fork.

Yeah, I get down to Orem to cruise State. I haven't been down there for a long time before last night. The last time I can remember cruising State it was in my old GTC which was totaled well over a year ago, damn it has been too long.

Let me remind you that your WRX has the humble beginnings of an economy car. Who cares if someone wants to make a slow car fast? Let them do it, it is their money. Perhaps there are certain things they like about the car that they don't want to buy something like a WRX.

If he spent that same amount of money on his car that you spend on yours, his car could EASILY smoke yours. Just because you don't like Civics doesn't make them bad. Sure they're slow stock, but they can easily be made into 13 sec cars. Again, faster than yours.

It was FREE. And i can take that 23k I was supoosidly supposed to buy it with, and upgrade it. I just hate that MOST civic owners always wanna race your car, and they mostly lose. And then there an asshole about it.

Like I said. They are made for fuel economy. Tell me when your car can get 38 mpg. Besides, they are fun little cars. Also great for beginners. Easy to mod, and nothing to complex about the setup they have. Sure they are slow, but it's what your into that counts. Yeah it's true that there are some civic drivers out there that are a*holes. but the are also WRX drivers who are too. Just because they own one they think they can beat every single car out there. There are plenty of drivers out there who think their car is the shit. Acura, Toyota, Mitsu., etc... Doesn't make everyone an A*hole. But I'm done arguing about this. I don't even know why I started. Maybe I should just get out of this. Well. late...

Probably a good thing you smoked that Civic good by the time you hit 115. If that Eagle Vision is like my recently departed Concorde (Totaled by a Civic no less!) then 115 is as fast as you will go because the Computer would have shutdown the engine on you causing some real embarassment.

Now if you found a way to make it go past the speed governor then I want to know what you did to it because judging on the way that Concorde was pulling when it did it to me, it definitely had enough grunt to bury the 120 MPH speedo if the Computer didn't intervene because the engine was only spinning about 4100 in overdrive and just starting to hit it's stride.

Yep, that is pretty much the case for the Vision, which I no longer own. I was pretty surprised that it managed 115, not only because I knew there was a governor, but the tires weren't balanced very well and the intake manifold gasket was leaking pretty badly.

However, after getting all that fixed, minus the governor. I found that 115MPH was about as fast as it would go with that pesky governor there with plenty of room on the tach to spare.
