If i wanted to install an sr20det on a 91 240sx-se, how much would it cost for the basic install, not to go drift/very hardcore drag. I have free labor installs since my dad is a mechanic and we'll do it oursleves. Yes, i did read the FAQ thread and saw the price of 6000$+ for the swap, but i thought that seemed a bit high for just a basic install that im looking for.
Also, what exactly is the difference between the RED/top, and Black/Top sr20's??

6 gs is a bit high....but why do you want to know if your going to do it yourself?. Around my area shops charge like 4-5gs for engine and installation together.
and go to your admission place and see what you would need. what the regulations are.

basically black tops are newer, and i believe thats the only difference. as for insurance, i'm pretty sure your insurance company wont take lightly to you dropping in a turbocharged japanese engine, so theyd probaly jack the prices on you. also depends on how old you are. insurance is bitch on me and i'm only 17.

Black tops have minor internal differences. they flow more air and are of course newer. you can tell if you have blacktop internals by ridges on the front of the head.

im thinking i might buy a 240sx that needs an engine for cheap then put an sr20 in it. Its not like im gonna call my insurance angent and let him know that my dad installed a turbo jap engine, my dad says he would do it and it would be fine, insurance shouldnt change... Where is the best place to look for a broken 240 thats waiting for me to add an sr20?

the black tops also cost more
S13 black tops not that big of a difference i would just go for the redtop and upgrade
S14 black top comes with the BB T28 turbo the same as the S15, the S14 also gives out like 10 to 15 more hp
S15 from what i hear isn't really worth the money, the cost of the clip/engine and install because you need the rear diff. its a 6spd so the driveshaft has to be done[i was told this],
