Code P1870

Has anyone every had this code pop up? The dealer says its internal slipping on the transmission. I have not noticed any shifting problems on or off the highway. Is there any fix for this other than having the trans rebuilt? Thanks

The slippage may not be noticable now but it could get worse as the clutch or the band wears more. Take it to a transmission shop and have them diagnose it for you. Dealers are always happy to sell you a new part but a tranny shop will give you the straight scoop. They will also let you know if the fluid is the problem or if it is an internal problem that may lead to a rebuild. Unless of course it is under warranty and then let the dealer replace the tranny for you!

Just a little out of warranty 97,000+ miles. I think I will change the fluid and filter first before I get to involved in a rebuild or trans shop. This is just a secondary car that I use on the weekends. Thanks for the reply
