What's the version number? Mine's 5 and doesn't show too many details.
Example: I was looking up a water pump for an 87 928 or 83 944, couldn't find one. Carburetors for a 70 914-6, no. 944 balance shaft system, no.

Look up 944 83 MG,1 SG,01 Illust,101-10 Item 32 though.

The version number is 178. Waterpump for the 928 87 is (928 106 015 20) the 944 is (944 106 021 13) The 914-6 carbs are (901 108 115 00) and (901 108 126 01) balance shaft 944 is (944 102 201 07). And the last one is a sealing compound silastik rtv 730, 1 tube, 125ml part number (000 043 019 01) hope that helps you steve.

Mine's kind of blank and only goes up to the 2001 996+T. I guess it's time to hunt down a newer version.

Its good to see the likes of the cayenne in bits. Do you have the 944 dealer workshop manual on disc? it's also very good and helpfull.

Why yes I do. 6 volumes photocopied and dumped into Adobe Acrobat files. Slightly crude, but it has everything I need. I've also got a Porsche Technical Reference Catalog for the 924, 944, 928. Very nice as it has every assembly as an exploded diagram and their corresponding part numbers. I've scanned most of the pages and sometimes use them for references here.

Print it off and put it in the bin when ya finished, who cares about oily hand marks on them.

Odd, I consider oily pages reference marks to find certain sections easier!

well, i never thought of it that way! Whilst i'm hear, has the 944 8v got a DME temp sender?

83-944
10-20-2004, 04:32 AM
Why yes it does. Look under the j-boot connecting the AFM to the throttle body. Below the middle section is a temp sensor specifically for the DME water temp sensor. The plug connnector is blue. In the AFM itself, there is another temp sensor for the incoming air.

I just wanted to know the number for it so i can order one for stock. what sub is it in?

10-22-2004, 11:05 PM
944.606.125.00 I had to look it up in the PTRC, my PET doesn't show it.

There's also a bosch number of 0 280 130 026 , that may be helpful for cross referencing.

It's apparently used also on Seats, Alfa Romeos, BMW, Peugeot, and others. Just plug the bosch number into Google.

During the mechanic inspection of my 1991 944-S2, it was observed that a cooling duct or hose for the alternator was missing. The local Porsche repair facility didn't know a part number for this part.

Do you think that you could access your PET and find what the part number is so that I can perhaps locate it on the net.

Thanks in advance,
Erik.

there's 3 hoses.

34 Air duct long - 944.603.441.00
35 Air duct short - 944.603.442.00
36 Connecting hose - 944.603.153.00
(36) Connecting hose - 944.603.153.01 (M573)

Sorry for anybody who wanted the PET off me, i only have it on my laptop, so i dont have it on disc as it doesn't need a disc to run it.

The PET CD based program is not really all that big. You keep most of the data on the CD anyway, unless you want to install it all on the hard disk. Just playing around with it, I found it pretty easy to figure out what most of the buttons do, and how to get to the information that I wanted to get to.

There seems to be an Internet based update capability as well as electronic parts order submitting in the application as well, but I have a feeling that this is only reserved for the professionals with valid user IDs and passwords.

None the less, it's a great help to find the parts and part numbers that you are looking for, as well as an understanding of how the parts are bolted together.

AllData, on the other hand, from what I understand, is a subscription web application that contains all the shop manuals for all the cars that you are likely to find. I know, because this is how my mechanic figures out the parts, costs, and estimated labor hours for the work that he's performing for his customers.
