First G35 Race

I told myself from the beginning, "Self, when the 1st race comes around make sure its worth it and close..." I knew I'd HAVE to win my 1st race or else it'd just suck....This isn't the most exciting story of them all and it was between a friend and I...
OK, so Thursday rolls around and I've just gotten alittle over 900 miles [all of which were well tamed] I'm thinkin' its about time to floor the G35 Coupe and see what she really does thus far...
I start getting spirited letting the RPMs reach 5500 - 6000 but still not at wide out throttle...My friend in his 98 Mustang V6 begins to notice and starts to egg me on. We turn right off one major road onto another 3 laned road...I take the middle and as soon as im straight gun it so he can see her dip it low in the back and the exhaust note get louder...
So I slow down abit and am in 3rd gear at about 3000RPMs...He comes up besides me and knocks it down into 2 on his auto [I figure?] and I keep it in 3rd just cruisin'. Well I knew it was commin' so he floored it and got the jump obviously and I floor it keeping the G in 3rd, I caught up dead even no time flat but the RPMs are still low so we are staying even....3K..4K....5K...6K, before I was redlining 3rd I was about 2 lengths on him and I shifted and immediatly let off and finally shifted to 5th.
Next light is red...[go figure...its a street racing story] We are 1st [chance?...I think not...] I start revving and before he knows whats going on I'm rippin' everyone around me a new hole - take your pick which one? [I will admit shes a slouch off the line...probably cuzz shes still stiff] I shut it down around 60 because I can tell theres no chance.....
But anyway...Its the 2004.5 G35 Coupes 1st race, 1st win, 1 for 1 now...Its all gravy though...I hope to get the chance of linning up with a RX8 or something of the sort soon though! Maybe by then I'll be more broken in and she'll be alil looser...kinky...

You would think, two RWD, V6 vehicles would be a good match, but in your case above, you were the football star picking on the paraplegic. ;)
An automatic, SN95 V6 (150HP)? Vs. a G35 coupe 6-spd (280HP)? Go race a Kia for chrissakes, lol.

no offence you beat a older v6 mustang with your G35 umm......dont mean to be a jerk but do you know how to drive???
i dunno something isnt adding up 280hp vs 150??? and you only got 2 cars on him something isnt right there
heck if my cavalier Z24 could easly beat a new 3.8 v6 mustang with 190hp when it was stock then i dunno why you couldnt have beat a 150hp by more then 2 car lenghts
your car has 130hp more and should have whipped the floor with him maybe your doing something wrong or there is something that your not telling us like him being boosted or running n2o or something there has to be something adding up to him being able to keep up with you if even at all because it shouldnt even be close at all

Nah, don't go racing a KIA!! Just go race a civic. Then you'll see what's up!! j/k. Yeah you need a way better challenge. Try a V8 or something with a lot more power. late...

lol i was wondering about a V6 mustang. . .i could beat those when i was stock. Also you need to work on your story telling, i really get confused in that last paragraph. I did get to play around with a G35 once, not any real racing, jsut cat and mouse crap, but it seemed pretty fast.

I had a G35 coupe out for a test drive (unfortunately and auto), and they work good. The sedan with the 6 speed we took out worked good as well, but you shouldn't have too much problem with the RX8...they don't pull very well (no sweet spot). Next time, don't waste your time, find a GT and race it. Oh yeah, nice ride. Those coupes are gorgeous inside and out.

Well, I really wouldnt worry about a RX-8. Back when I was running my t-25 @ 15psi I beat a friends RX-8 by more than a car length (he was pissed cause he had just shelled out like 30K for his car, hehe). When I raced another friends G35 coupe with the same setup, he just sent me home...G's are waaaay sexy cars

you boosted 15psi on the stock t-25?
How long have u been doing that??? I've heard that was the maximum for our stock turbo so I'm just wondering. How big was the jump from stock psi to 15??

hehe, i only put it to 15psi for set up races and such (16 is the t-25's OUTER limit). Commuting, I'd put it to 13, or 11 if I'm feelin really economical. I got my car with 49K miles on it, BONE stock driven by a 43 year old woman, and then started my boosting routines at 50K or so. I'm now at 52K and I already have a 14B (150$) in at 15-16 psi. btw, the jump from stock to 15....you'll DEF notice it. jump from T-25 to 14B....a totally different car...in a good way of course :iceslolan putting in an Evo III 16G asap. Our cars have potential.

yeah thats kinda odd. why would think a v6 stang would even stand a chance? those cars are a joke. i drove one and i literally screamed to my self WTF this car is probrably one of the slowest car i've ever driven. i can beat the thing goin 20mph in 4th gear. lolz
