Z28 power window problem

I have a 2000 Z28 and the driver's side window will only work sometimes. It will roll down fine but when I start rolling it up it will stop about 4 inches from the top. I can keep hitting the button and it will go up about 1/4 inch at a time until it gets about an inch from the top then it stops. After restarting the car I can usually get it all the way up but sometimes it takes a day or two. Any ideas on what my problem might be?? Please help me, it's driving me CRAZY!!!!!

Your motor is over heating and on its way out. They all do this while they are on there last leg. If you let in cool hit the button and let it cool again it should work for short spurts. Also I would just like to welcome you to the forum. Its always a welcome editions to have a fine lady such as yourself. By the way do you like Jello?
.

P.S.-Also if you leave the door open on that last 1/4 of the way up instead of while its closed it should go up all the way. Most of the time its the weather stripping that stops it from go up all the way. You can also try pulling up on it while pushing the button

So, I need a new motor? How much trouble is that going to be to replace?? I love Jello if it's the right flavor!

OK to start its not a easy thing to change but a smart woman such as yourself could probably figure it out so here is a website with directions- , http://shbox.com/page/windowmotor.html Also Autozone makes a improved motor replacement for around $95.00 .
Also I aim to please so you can have any flavor you like. Rarrr (tiger claws)

P.S>Sorry if that came off a little creepy.

Thanks alot!! Maybe I can handle that. It didn't look too awful hard, but what do I know I'm sitting at the computer right now!! I might have to have a new door before I'm done. Things just aren't going my way these days, I busted the driver's door window out of my husbands truck yesterday. I may be dangerous!!

Wow, I take it you didn't do that by accident?.
But I can tell you that most shops charge one arm and one leg to put these in so if you can handle it yourself or find someone who's windows you don't feel like smashing to help you then you would save yourself alot of money.

It really was an accident. I just opened the door and it shattered. If it hadn't been tinted I'd still be cleaning glass up. I even went and had a new one put in for him this morning. I think I'll attempt it, what have I got to lose?!? If I break it my insurance will replace it for $50, and they know me well>

Sounds like a plan and now that I know your a happily married woman I will stop with the ridiculous come on's. Yeah I had a windshield shatter on me one time and that glass just goes everywhere.

It's your motor alright. Mine went out too. I am in Southern Calif. & I took it to the dealer, it cost me $500.00

heh, I love how women casually mention that they have boyfriends/husbands. If I were you, formulalt1, I'd take that as a sign of disinterest.

Anyway, back to the subject. Yeah, camaro windows go out all the time because the car has such a small motor hooked up to a huge window. The driver's window went out on my 91 RS. My current car, a 2000 z28, also burnt its driver's side window motor. It's a common problem that shouldn't be too hard to fix.

I would have taken it more personally had I not been joking around as I think from reading my posts was perfectly clear but thanks for pointing that out for me.

No time better than the present, I actually read the last 70 pages the other day since I stopped posting but alot of the last 70 is just diablo talking about things he hates and likes.
