Trying to program remotes for power locks, I was told to cycle key from "off" to "on" 8 times in 10 seconds, and leave in the "on" position and the locks will cycle to let you know you are in programming mode- I can't for the life of me get it to do that, I try fast, slow, nothing works. The remotes quit working after a light was left on and the battery was drained- the power locks inside on the door still works, just the remotes don't, any ideas why I can't get into programming mode or anything else I can try? Thanks

Hello.
I had a similar problem with getting new duplicate keys to work in my 2001 Taurus. Apparently there is a computer chip built into the key and you have to insert the keys in the proper order, turn off and on....blah, blah, blah.
Anyway.....the service manager at the dealership fixed me up for free, but not until he fooled around with it for about 15 minutes. I'd give them a call or take it to them.
