All-pupose tuning software

I am just starting to get into the self-tuning hobby. I'm a certified car crafter, but until a few years ago all of my cars were carb-only. I now have several computerized cars and I'm tired of farming out my performance goodies... especially since I'm in CA and I have to change some of it back come test time :)

I know there is no one-for-all software for tuning every box out there, but is there one company who makes a different "plug-in" program for each type? I have the laptop but I can't see buying the BMW program from one source, then the OBD2 from another, and the LT1 hack from yet another.

What I'm thinking is getting the most diversity for my programming dollar. I currently have and would like to tune a Toyota, BMW, and GM products, but I go through cars like water, so it might be tomorrow that I sell one and buy a Ford, Dodge, or Deawoo to replace it :)

unfortunately there isn't. While the diagnostics for all OBD2 cars is universal, all manufacturers use a different method for encoding Fuel and Spark curves.

bummer. I was hoping that there was one company who had cracked the code on a bunch of them and offered software for several.

your best bet is getting good at SAFC2 tuning and advise all your customers to get one.
