Replacing Power Steering Rack Assembly

My wife's 98 Volvo S70 is leaking power steering fluid profusely. The Volvo dealer says the rack assembly needs to be replaced.

$1000 for rack, labor, and alignment!!!

How difficult is the rack assembly to replace on this car? I am mechanically savvy, but do not work on my vehicles much at all.

the front subframe needs to be lowered to allow for rack replacemant, best to have it done in a shop.
