Hello,
I shut my 89 camaro off last night in the garage, no problems. Today, I went to start it and it wouldnt even make a sound, battery is brand new. My dash lights came on when I turned the key, the radio, lights, etc. but it wont turn over. Battery is brand new and the connections are tight. Someone said the starter...I replaced it, no luck. Someone else said the neutral safety switch, so I spliced it direct, no luck. I am at my wits end and dont want it to nickel dime me trying to figure it out.
Everything seems to work, it just wont turn over. I did put a test light on both wires from the neutral safety switch and couldnt get any juice thru the light when I turned the key so I am wondering why/where or what would cause that.
I dont get in here alot to read the boards so if someone would mail me or post here what they might think I would appreciate it.
TIA

YOu may have a burnt up ignition switch , if you take off the panel under the steering wheel and follow a long silver colored bar down to a white box ( I think it's white) just look around that , maybe it has some external indication of fault. Or is that only on 85's and lower ?

PS - I know a common problem with those systems where that when they were cold the bar would tent to bind a bit and end up getting slightly bent over time , just barely enough to stop it from completely engaging the connectors.
