no i don't have a copy of a recall letter, they refuse to send me one, it's on the 2004 taurus built in the atlanta and chicago plants, between 10-03 - 2-05
it's for the power driver seat only, the seat weld will not hold in a wreck.

www.nhtsa.gov has info on safety recalls. Try www.alldata.com/TSB for general recall and TSB invo. Or can call the zone office from one of the numbers in the back of your owner's manual.

Warpath,
If your car really has a recall it is by law that Ford has to track you down and pester you continually until you take it in. I had one on mine about the brake light switch and received a card every month from them until I had it taken care of.

Recalls are not only based on plant location and date of manufacture. They are based on VIN. Sometimes changes were made mid year to fix a problem therefore only certain VIN's were affected. The manufacturer does have the responsibility and will notify you if they have your correct address. Go to a dealer and ask if you have any recalls on your vehicle. They will ask for your VIN and accurately seach for recalls affecting your vehicle.

since i'm the first and only owner i presume ford know where i live,
but knowing that ford they will just play with the documentations,
put in in the computer and wait for me to ask, they save money that
way and make it look like they informed me by mail, this has happen to
me before by ford. and it saves them millions, and thousands of unsafe cars on the road, BUYER BEFORE OF FORD.

I agree with girlmekanic. Ford had to clean up their act way back in 1970's with the Pinto fires dilemma. They found out the hard way that it is in their best interest to follow thru on recall issues. As suggested, go to a dealer and have them look it up.

The Ford # for your recall is 4S18. That's 4 es 1 8. Good luck!

Warpath,

All you have to do is go to your local Ford Dealer with the VIN. They will run a check and tell you all recalls that affect your car.

THey will glady fix it as they get paid by Ford to do it.
