I am looking at two amps, the Xplod 1200w and the Fosgate 1000w. I have heard lots of good stuff about fosgate, but an extra 200w seems like a good thing. Is there anything really great about fosgate amps or are the xplods just as good? Thanks.

whats the model number on each of the amp? i think the 1200watt for the sony is MAX. what you want is the RMS. if i can remember..i think the RMS rating is 1000watt at 1ohm. most likely you will see less than that. more like 900 because sony amps put out less power than the rating. for the rockford fosgate..its a whole different story. the rockford fosgate will actually put out more power than it is rated at. i've seen many Rockford amps that will do 1200watts instead of the 1000 they are rated at. i think sony also rated their amps at 14.4 volts. this isn't a good source because not many veichle can generate 14.4 volts to their electrical system. with the rockford fosgate, they rate their amps at 12.5-12.8 volts i believe. most car will push around 12 volts to their electrical system. the 12 volt rating is usually better than the 14.4.
as for how well sony amps compare up with the rockford fosgate, i think its only good as long as its installed correctly. but if they were both installed equally, i would have to say the rockford amp will sound better.

also remember the sony amps that put out 1000 watts is the 3001sxd and 6001 es model.. and they are both 1000 MAX at 1 ohm... the rf amp its nice and is a little underrated. (for example i bought a bd100a1 and it is supposed to be 1000 watts but the certificate says its 1072.. so not much of a difference. my friend got the 1100a2 and the cert said it maxes at 1482! but that was three years ago.) also the rf amps that put out about 1000 watts are either the bd amp which is stable down to only 2 ohms..(i ohm doesn't work very well with it) and their regular class a/b amps which are stable bridged at 4 ohm... so whats do you have? that would help this decision

my bd1000.1 came with a birth sheet and siad it had 1135 watts a 2 ohms
it pushes my kicker L7 solo barics pretty damn hard
but honestly i think rockford is overpriced
i think i paid like 700 for it
i think you can find a cheaper amp that does the job just as well
I DONT KNOW MAN JUST ASK SPARK
i heard good stuff about ample audio
and i know he carries that stuff for a fair price

Sticker is $750 at BB, I will pay $325. That is why I am willing to wait. And the fosgate 12 inch He2 sticker at $160 on sale and I get em for $80. Clifford alarm that goes for $400 I get for $90. You can see why I am sticking to buying at Best Buy ;)

you'll need a 0/1 gauge wire for the power supply and a 0/1 gauge for the ground wire. a 16gauge remote turn-on wire would be nice.
