New Headunit

I bought a new Alpine 9821 headunit today for $140. My clarion was really old with most of the buttons with worn off letters and it finally died on me. But we accidentally cut the ground wire first and it blew my fuse for the dome light and I replaced that, but I think it also blew my bulb for the instrument panel, which sucks! Ill just have to replace that later lol, but for now i judge my mph from my tach. Ill probably get some pics up tomorrow or later tonight.

I dont really care about options when it comes to cd players, just as long as it plays the radio, cds, and burnt cds. But this has sub controls, cd changer controls, and some other stuff. Im impressed with it, I just need to fix the instrument panel lights now.

What do you guys think?

TheSilentChamber

9600 = pioneer, 960 = pioneer premier. There identical except the 960 has 9volt outputs. Visually they are exactly the same though.

You can download new ones and a program to make them off pioneers website.

My Panasonic unit is sweet as hell. It has the MOSFET internal amp which is awesome cause I have my sub hooked up with regular speaker wires just running off the unit and it bumps really good. People are like damn, where's your amp! All my friends are jealous now. :iceslolan:

TheSilentChamber

I'm no genius here but is that good or bad?

TheSilentChamber

saying with a real amp your sub is your going to sound alot better. 19w is not much.

When I bought the Kenwood 12" sub, it came with a 250 watt amp. Not to powerful but good I guess. It's just I've never really hooked up an amp and'll have to wait till someone can show me. But for now I'm satisfied with the bump that it has.

Its easy, you have your power that goes to the battery +, ground is grouned to the body somewhere, and a remote wire that is ran back to the remote wire on your cd player, RCAs from the head unit to the amp. Then your sub hooks to the speaker output. Set to gain to match your cd player output, set the eq on your cd player and amp and your set to go.

Do you put the power cable end on the battery + connector or what? That's where my problem is.

TheSilentChamber
10-08-2004, 06:13 PM
yeah put it on the + battery terminal

Shaguar47
10-08-2004, 06:15 PM
Hmmmm.... okay. I was told that you had to put it somewhere else than the battery terminal itself or it would fry the amp. It won't fry it, will it?

TheSilentChamber
10-08-2004, 06:46 PM
no, you do need an inline fuse somewhere between the battery and the amp though, all wiring kits come with them.

You can just go buy a kit from wally world or something and it has everything you need.

TheSilentChamber

most kits dont come with RCAs, might have to buy them seperate.

quiXilver
10-08-2004, 08:27 PM
yea the rca's are the wires that connect the red and white (female ends) on the back of your cd player and the inputs on your amp together

incase you didn't know
