I am thinking of putting in a Cold Air Intake in my 1990 Accord EX Coupe. The questions are Do these intakes all make the car have a loud noise...what do I do about making sure there is plenty of cool air?? Also any reccomendations on which one is good for the money, I do not have the budget of Donald Trump. Thanks

Yes it will have a louder sound especially under hard acceleration, to be honest it really isn't going to make much difference at all to your car other than the noise. Everybody likes to claim that you get all these great power gains from stuff like that but really the only place your going to notice that is maybe at the drag strip where your times might drop a little. If you really want to give the car colder air take off the air box and remove all the other air intake crap that's under it behind the bumper, run a hose somewhere down there and up to the air box and put the factory air box back in. I guess you could also go buy a K&N replacement for your factory air box if you wanted to. If your dead set on buying an intake they are everywhere, remember that all your buying is a piece of tubing which means that spending $200 and $30 it's still the same tube one is just over priced. Buy a cheap intake and then go to your local parts store and get a K&N cone filter that will fit it ($40-$50 bucks and you can clean it and re-use it).

As an example here is one that is $40 shipped to your house

Just watch you puddles, sucking water into the motor makes it unhappy.

Thanks for the info....i think you helped me make a decision. I am beyond my time of having a loud sounding car. Did that with my muscle car back in teh 80's! LOL

I will stick tothe stock one that came with the car, just maybe upgrade to better filter...thanks again

It wont make it all that much louder, nothing like an exhaust. Other than that I completely agree with 94accordVTEC

I personaly have a cool air intake on my 96 accord coupe. I must say at regular throtle you hardly notice it, but punch it while you passsssss someone and you will definately know its there. By the way when the ignition is on pop the hood to listen to that cool hissing noise from the tube! Dont go expensive its all the same

isnt it like every 10 degree drop in temperature gives u like 1 hp or 1% more hp or something? Id say CAI is worth it. All this rain crap u hear is BS. Tell me one person that has driven in rain and hydrolocked their engine. Not mentioning the idiots that think they can drive thru lakes.

trust me, cold air intakes - u really feel the power during winters, otherwise it saves u money on gas :D....cuz durin the summer, it basically taking in hot air and it's bigger than ur stock intake so more hot air means u spend less on gas. these days i'm gettin 32 miles to the gallon! but come winters u'll feel it trust me!
