Wont go into reverse

Hi there
I have just bought a 1999 nissan primera station wagon and have just started having problems when the car is cold getting it into reverse. It clicks in once i have put it back into park or neutral but I am wondering if anyone has any insight into what the problem might be and how to fix it. Also if anyone has had the same problem could you give me any tips.

Hello, as no one has helped with your question i thourght i would ask some more questions. Does your problem only happen in reverse? what are all the other gears like from cold? have you checked or changed your gear fluid? does the gear selector engage reverse and not drive, or does the lever not move into reverse?
If you could give us alittle more info on the car and of your complaint it may help.
Failing this have you tried to get a gearbox specialist to check the car, they will be able to give you the best diagnosis as they will be able to reproduce the fault.

If you are reading this, i am a lucky one and have been able to get rid of my primera. we had it only a couple of months....what problems we had. wouldnt go into reverse and were quoted $11k to fix!!! NEVER buy a car with a hyper CVT transmission!!! I am now the proud owner of a 1999 Toyota Caldina.....much better car!!! I wish someone had warned me about these cars so here i am warning you!
