Can you push 11 sec or better in the 1/4 mile out of a rb20det in a 240sx? and will it be reliable??

Low 14's maybe.... why RB20? Wannabe 200ZR? RB20's are old engines... why not RB25?

There are RB25s that are just as old as RB20s. There are RB20s that are just as new as RB25s.

RB20s are too freaking big and heavy for the ammount of displacement they offer.

Go SR20DET.

they can still be good engines though. but for the ammount of work it would take to get one in a 240, i'd go RB25. it makes more sense.

RB20 is a good engine in the cars that it came in (Cefiro, Laurel, lower R32's etc.) but it doesn't make much sense to put one in a 240 really.

...actually makes no sense at all.

11s should be possible. $$$$ and tuning. Just because its a six doesn't mean that it is going to put out a lot more power than the SR. Notice it doesn't make more than a blacktop. It is still displacing the same amount of air and fuel. I know of a couple of people that have them and the say that the RB20 is quick in the 240. It should rev really well with the engine setup. Good luck.

damn 11 seconds... that's some high standards. a stock 4WD GT-R runs 13's.

Actually a lot of people I have seen, have replaced rhe RB in their Laurels with Sr20DETs.

The RB is a fine engine...but the 240 will handle better with a lighter engine. It is designed with the lighter engine in mind. The RB2o is HUGE compared to the SR20....and it has almost the exact amount of displacement.

I agree, why go through all than trouble for an RB20, go RB25

It just has a good rep because it was in the skyline. Skyline=car of gods to some people. No doubt it is ungodly fast with a 2.6det or a 2.5det, but I would put money on it being beat by a good KA-T or SR setup 240 if its running a RB20. Once again, there is no replacement for displacement. Whichever engine flows the most air efficiently by way of nitrous(efficiency increaser), FI(yes it increases displacement), or just engine size will make the most power. So if a SR and a RB are making the same power, the SR will win because of weight.
