GTECH Performance Pro meters?

Has anyone out there tried the GTECH Performance Meter? I guess you just plug it in to the 12v socket, and it's like a dyno in your car. It gives you all kinds of neat facts (hp, 1/4 times, etc...) Anyone know how it works?!? I also saw that they have a new PRO model (with dyno charts and all kinds of neat stuff). Looks pretty sweet, and it claims to do a lot. I would not mind having one if it really worked. Any input would be helpful...

Well... my friend has one (I told him not to get one) and its never consistant. It's even told him that his Focus ZX3 is 44hp :p

How about you give me the money and I put my finger in the 12V outlet and tell you how much hp I "think" your is?

I've seen some magazine reviews where supposedly the thing works half way decent. I think G-Tech paid them off!! Everyone I know that has one regrets getting it because its a POS.

If anything get that new Blitz Power Meter ID which actually is wired to a few wires on your ECU. The G-Tech connects to your 12V outlet and thats it! I'd at least think the Blitz unit is way more credible

It goes for about $225 to 250. I'm considering getting one...

I have one. They are as accurate as the person using it. It all depends on how accurately you mount it onto your windshield. It need to be in the very center, pointing straight back, the more it is off in any direction, the more your results will be off. It measures everything using a built in accelerometer. Also, for the hp, you have to know the weight, otherwise the hp reading is way off. The new unit out is the G-tech Pro Competition. Looks very promising, has 4 accelerometers built in (vs 1 on the current unit), so placement is not an issue. Can now measure 60ft times, as well as other 1/4 mile times, that it couldn't produce before. Also has a built in shift light, which can also be used as a cornering light (i think). I saw it at SEMA, it was NICE! I'm just waiting for it to become available to consumers. :D Hope this helps.

I have one and I like it but it has to be set up perfect for accurate results
but it gives you an idea of what your mods have done which is the reason for having it not so you can say how much power you have

well i have one and this is what i think,,,i've had it for a couple of years,,,,i used to charge people to use it when it first came it ..lol,,needless to say it paid for itself. My brother and i use it all the time , as a matter of fact my brother sets it up when he's at the track it's never been off more than 1 tenth . Horsepower and trapspeeed are pretty inaccurate. i've never used it to measure g's

From what I've heard the G-tech is pretty damn accurate for time. It's also accurate for mph but you have to account for the difference in the way the G-tech and the 1/4 track timing is done. The G-tech will give you your final speed at the 1/4 mile and the track will time the last 60ft and take the speed over that distance.

I guess it really does come down to whether you set it up correctly.

The people I know who own it say it sucks... maybe they're just using it incorrectly. I trust you guys more than them.. :p
