Integra rain water leak from hell

I have a 1990 Integra RS (purchased about a year ago) that has a rain water leak into the Passenger Compartment floorboards that has been extremely difficult to find and fix so far. It leaks so badly that not only is the carpet completely soaked, sometimes there is standing water deep enough to support aquatic life! An inch or more!

During a rain storm, I have witnessed water dripping from the plastic blower channel that leads up to the fresh air intake, and I think water must be getting inside from there....but maybe not.

So far it's been impossible to duplicate the leak with a garden hose. One shop ran water over the windshield for hours and nothing came in, but two days later it rained again and the floor was soaked just like always.

To fix we have tried:

1) replaced windshield and carefully sealed....no help.

2) the big plastic shield over the firewall and under the wipers appears to be in good shape, not cracked, etc. The plastic plugs are present.

3) Under that shield, there is a smaller plastic tray on the passenger side that appears to be the likely culprit, but it has been severely sealed with clear silicone, underneath and on top, and so I'm beginning to look elsewhere.

4) There are a number of those diabolical expanding clips that hold all these plastic pieces together and attach to the suspicious sheet metal tray underneath which also channels water; and all the little clear plastic plug gizmos that seal those holes are present and in good shape.

5) Water is quite happy to run down the channels behind the fender that were put there for that purpose, and there are no clogs there or at the little rubber flapper covers.

6) The clean air intake opening has a raised lip about 3/8 inch tall in that sheet metal tray just to keep water out. It's OK as is the rubber seal around it.

I am going crazy and concerned about long term water damage to the computer and plenty of other stuff.

Has anyone had a similar problem, or have bright ideas to add? New places to look for trouble ?

yep that has happened to me:rolleyes: under the big plastic shield is your culprit. what i did was is get some of that clear silicone and go to town on it. i mean i did this several times before i finally got it right. and i had ALOT of water in my floorboard. in live in FL so it is always raining here. but i just used about one of those whole tubes. the big ones. and sealed that little shield completly. i rubbed it in to the firewall and everything. i'm still not sure why it started leaking but, it's fine now. i might be able to post a pic of my job i you would like?

I suggest first drilling a hole in the floor board. Then, tape a funnel under the leak temporarily with duct tape, and attatch some rubber hose to one end and route the other end of it to the hole u drilled. that should work
