I just bought new fog lights for my 90 Accord EX.....My instructions say I can connect to the battery or to the fuse box....I am wondering what is the proper way to connect to a fuse box and also which fuse box is best to connect to - the one in the engine compartment or the fuse box under the driver side dash?? ANy help would be appreciated.

Thanks

The wiring in the Hondas are sized for the designed load. No extras. So the best bet is to wire directly to the battery through an inline fuse. The cig lighter is probably the only wire that can take a fog light load as it fused atr 15 amp load and only works when the key is on.

Ok....never realized that about teh fuse boxes....I am remembering how, on american cars (ford & GM) if you hookedup to a battery directly it would drain the battery after a while....

That doesn't have anything to do with fuses or fuse boxes. I imagine it's because whatever you connected would be (potentially) on even if the ignition was off.

But if it was for, say, auxiliary lights, (and you remembered to switch them off!) they could not possibly drain the battery even if they were directly-connected.

Have you ever hooked anything up directly to the battery...I am also looking at getting an amp and the wirign kit shows it is to be hooked directly up to battery for power....but i cannot see hwo to turn off the amp so I d onot drain the battery

I agree that would be a problem. I have never needed to connect anything to the battery. And I'd need more info on the wiring instructions for your amp before I could comment.

(Obviously there must be a solution, or there'd be a lot of dead cars - with sound systems - sitting around!)

the battery provides power to the amp...however your headunit turns the amp on/off. all amps (to my knowledge) has a 'power'(from battery), 'ground', and 'control'. the 'control' is hooked up to your headunit...so when ever the headunit comes on....it will turn on your amp.
