WTF is a 500r4????? the only r series trannies that I know of are the 200-r4 and the 700-r4. six or eight cylinder, there was no difference. As long as you have the right bell housing, it should all work just fine

no, the only difference in bolt patterens is that their is a chevy bell housing pattern, and their is a BOP (Buick, Pontiac, Olds.) bell housing. I don't know about the 700r4 but the 200r4 is a universal housing will work with both chevy and BOP. Think about it, if the v6's has a different bolt patteren, then how do people drop 350 TPI's in their cars when they where 2.8 to begin with. or montie carlos? It will work just fine.

Also quit messing around with that 700r4. and buy a built 200r4. Guys are putting them in there 454 chevells, it will work for you. Also if they hold up in 9 second GN's they will work fine for you as well. Not too many 700r4's do that. Also they take less HP to spin.

Ive heard before that T5s from V6s dont work with V8s, is this also untrue?

I've always thought that a v6 transmission wouldn't stand up to v8 power. If someone that is sure about this would inform us, that would be great.

The 4l60-e have no seperate bellhousing and the V6 and V8 bolt pattern are different. So to answer your question no way in hell. I'm pretty sure the 5 speed V6 tranny has seperate bellhousing but don't know if they make a bellhousing for the 5 speed to work on the V8.

Although your statement about the 4l60 basically being the same as the 700r4 is correct the only year F-bodys that got the 4L60 where 93's.

i seem to remember someone awhile back saying that the 700R4 used in V8 cars had either heavier duty or an extra clutch pack compared a 700R4 used in a V6 car. cant remember but it was something along those lines, could be wrong tho....

What the hell is this crap about the 92' RS 25th edition having a V-6 ? They don't come factory with sixes. ONly 8's and they have a 700R4. Wish a turbo 400 would fit =D get some serious torque to the wheels.

Anywho , Shit I broke another tranny mount :( Anyone know a good rather excellent company that makes a tranny mount that can handle some serious pressure and power slammin through the tranny ? These GM ones suck , it's my 4th one in less than 2 months -_--Heard my tranny slam against my underside today when taking off with a 'stang gt.-

Ooh yeah , I want a god darn purple haze driver side door O.o gimme.

Even though this is an old thread, figured i'd throw my two cents (pls no change:)) 2.8l v6 maros come with a metric 200r4 which will not fit any v8, 3.1 and 3.8s i have been told have a two piece bellhousing which can be swapped, i know personally that 2.8l bellh. is way too small and will not work and 25th an maros do come with a v6 (check chiltons) my brothers was a v6 (38 ior 31 not sure) and it was a 92 with badging on the dash, so if they never came with that engine, your telling me someone pulled the tpi and put a mpi 6 in.

make your own tranny mount solid alluminum
and why a th400??? they are heavy duty truck trannys that weigh as much internally as a th350 weighs alltogether (not litterally but close) but at any rate way to high of a internal rotating mass

I'm pretty sure that the 92 RS 25th came with a V6. I know that before I bought my car I went to look at a 92 that had 25th anniversary badges and it had a V6.
