kenwood head unit prob

i have a kenwood head unit not sure what the models is but its nice. i have it all hooked up and it wont turn on unless i pul it out and pull off the cover and crank it over buy hand to get the face down (it has a flip down face) but itl close on its own if i push eject but it wont turn on unless i pop the case off and crank the gear manualy. does any body kno wuts rong with it or how to fix it?
