no, but I recently just had it done and it cost me about a $1000 after trading in my original auto tranny.

It can be done but civicsir413 got lucky only paying $1000. Usually it's up around the price or $3000-$4000 to do the swap. :(

My friend just did this to his 5th gen. Didn't cost him a damn thing. It helps when one of your best friends is a mechanic though:D

But the cost of auto-to-manual is coming down greatly as you can see one guy said it was 3-4k ... which USED to be the case. With more people wanting this kind of thing its brought the costs down considerably. Talk to the place thats going to do your swap and see if you COULD trade your tranny in towards some of the work ~ because what are you gonna do with your auto tranny after you get a stick anyways? :apoke:

What the!!!? Why would it cost so much? How can people afford to swap engines then? If it costs $3000 just for the engine, will the install be the same, putting the total cost over $5000? Somebody please explain why a crappy D series tranny (or integra LS, Prelude) would cost so much to get and install?

The conversion cost so much because you obviously cannot just swich the tranny... The linkage, shifter and all of those compinents need to be installed as well. Plus the removal of the auto, and I do believe you also have to mess with the ECU (so it does not still wanna shift for you)

So yeah, there is a lot more involved than just swiching trannys.

u have to weld a tranny mount i beleive... and also installing the pedal set shifter, linkage and others adds up to alot of money.

dont most engine swaps come with trannies included? woulndt it be a good idea to just do both at the same time then? how much would that be total?

Here's a list of parts you need for the conversion:
Clutch Master&Slave Cylinders
Hydrolic Lines
Manual Tranny(duh)
shift linkage
shifter
pedal assembly(all three pedals from a manual)
upper tranny mount(auto mount is too short)

Your best bet would be to find a wrecked one with these parts......
www.hondaautomotiveparts.com also carries most of these parts....or your local honda dealer.....

also here's a little info on the conversion:

I understand all the parts needed. It just seems like it would cost more to swap transmissions then it would to swap engines with transmissions, given the prices posted here. That is what I dont understand, the cost of a total engine swap versus just swapping the transmission, it seems to me the transmission only should be much less than doing engine and tranny. Especially since you would most likely be swapping in an engine and tranny that is an upgrade. (more expensive)

Also, just a word to the wise, watch for people swapping out their D series engines. You can usually buy the engine or just the transmission for cheap, since they're just dumping it anyway. This is the route Ill go, and I can guarantee you it wont cost me near $3000.
