coil pack problem

my friends lumina 94 3.1 was acting up tapped on coil packs car died. so i replaced coil packs and ran fine for while now i still tap and it dies. could it be the contact plate underneath(no idea what its called)? any other ideas please let me know cause i wanna get this guys car fine. i feel bad i dont want him to pay a mechanic!

Under the coils is the ICM, ignition control module. Sounds like its fried.
