Alright, I am very interested on getting a camaro for somewhat of a dalily driver, but I want to make it pretty quick too.
The two cars I was interested in are a
1989 CHEVROLET CAMARO R/S with a 305 TBI V8 and new 700R4 trans
[Engine was rebuilt a year ago, about 70k on it.]
and a
1986 CHEVROLET Z28
[Was owned by a mech., engine parts were replaced.... 140k but he says it still runs strong because alot of things have been replaced)
The main questions I had were what is the HP on each of them, and which do you think would be a good choice to make decently fast? (I dont have 10 grand to drop into it, but I got a few)

Do you know what kind of engine is in the 1986??? Your best bet for going fast in a thirdgen is to find something that has a TPI engine but either of them dont sound too bad.

on the '89 it was built a year ago and already has 70,000 miles?
Is the '86 carbureted or fuel injected?
i had a '91 TBI, the TBI is easy to work with. but i swapped that engine into a different car w/ a TPI. i haven't had a chance to really drive it (need inspection) but definitely feel the difference w/ the TPI.

You would be much happier with an LT1 4th gen. Trust me. Plus you can find them pretty affordable now days.
