98 elantra running wierd

My wifes elantra is having an issue.At times it runs ruff and lacks power.It is not happening every day tho.She said it has been doing this for the past 2 weeks.I want to replace fuel filter but i dont know where it is on the car.Can anyone help with both issues?.....PLEASE

That link to the Hyundai WebTech site should help you locate the fuel filter. As far as offering advice on the problem itself I don't know enough about the car to be of much use...when was the last time it had a tune up?

Hello
Intermitant rough running and loss of power
First thing that comes to mind is spark plug wires
On your engine they are under the inspection cover in the middle of the valve cover
i would remove them one at a time and inspect them for burn marks .
If you see white burn marks almost looks like lightning bolts squigly lines . Then i would replace the wires and sparkplugs .
