I started the painting on my 82 last week. Im painting her a metallic smoke grey. So far I have the driver and passenger side fenders the nose piece and the drivers side door done. I have to do it piece by piece since im doing it after work, plus not to mention this thing had like 4 differant coats of paint on her so stripping it back down to bare metal is quite a chore. Its my first real paint job that i will be doing completely myself, I worked in a body shop for a few years but never did the painting. I was the unlucky one who had to do the prep work and some priming. Over all its turning out pretty good since im useing a enamel single stage paint instead of a lacquer paint. I do have a question though, I want to put some rally stripes on it and was wondering how wide they are or if that really matters, I will be painting them on in a bright silver/slate.

When i had my 25th anniv. stripes painted on, I just printed off a picture of the hood of a 25th ann. camaro, and used that as a guide and you'd never tell the difference between mine and the real ones..

a tip.. paint the whole section where the stripes are going to be with the silver/slate... than, after its dried.. use masking tape to get the outline of your stripes.. cover them, than paint with the body color
